I had a 30 minute nap today, and the kids are bedding down early. Gonna watch me some Mets tonight.
|
metirish Aug 07 2009 08:02 PM |
Rickey Henderson will join Gary and Ron in the booth later , something to stay up for.

Ashie62 Aug 07 2009 08:16 PM |
Last night the booth had Jerry Coleman calling YS3 a bandbox, maybe Rickey can do some more good public service
|
Ashie62 Aug 07 2009 08:17 PM |
Time to be Cory
|
Ashie62 Aug 07 2009 08:19 PM |

Hotline, with the best pitch-taking I've seen by a Met in the last five minutes.
|
Valadius Aug 07 2009 08:21 PM |
We sure as hell need this running start, considering who we're throwing out there on the mound tonight.
|
Ashie62 Aug 07 2009 08:22 PM |
Ollie has two-make it so
|
Fman99 Aug 07 2009 08:24 PM |
Nice start for the good guys. Let's see if Ollie decides to a) run with it, or b) shit on it.
|
Ashie62 Aug 07 2009 08:25 PM |
a) run with it..Ashie has a feeling lol
|
Ashie62 Aug 07 2009 08:30 PM |
Oliver Twist is out of the first..yippee
|
Fman99 Aug 07 2009 08:42 PM |
Impressive - Ollie comes back from 3-0 to get the K.
|
Fman99 Aug 07 2009 08:44 PM |
Kyle Blanks up, who apparently is Bill Brasky reincarnate.
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Aug 07 2009 08:47 PM |
"Did I ever tell you about the time that Bill Brasky hit a lazy, ineffectual fly ball to left?"
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Aug 07 2009 08:52 PM |
Murphy appears to have caught whatever Tatis had before the last week or so.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 07 2009 08:56 PM |
|
Yup
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Aug 07 2009 09:01 PM |
Hey, Tatis may be 0-for-2, but he's seen two Frenchy-Games' worth of pitches so far tonight. (A sadly rare skill on the SHaMmers.)

STFD, Princeton fuck.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 07 2009 09:05 PM |
Ah crap. That big dude just smashed a double.
|
PiggiesTomatoes Aug 07 2009 09:06 PM |
I know he's not dead because I see him in the dugout but has Jerry been diagnosed with a terminal disease? Turned the game on last inning and it sounded as if Gary and Ron were eulogizing Manuel. Speaking to his humanity throughout all of this year's ordeals, etc. I'd half expected to hear that he'd been canned.
|
Valadius Aug 07 2009 09:08 PM |
I'm chuckling to myself because I see that the second base umpire is listed as Randy Marsh.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 07 2009 09:11 PM |
I confess to be listening in on the MFY game at the same time. Sterling did a "IT IS HIGH... IT IS FAR .... IT IS going to be caught in center field..." on Tiexera last inning. Still 0-0 there, top 12...

Caught a ride home from a co-worker with a Francesa habit. Ol' No-SugarTits was doing his weekly interview with Manuel... and he couldn't stop praising the guy for "not losing (his) sense of humor" and "proving (his) character." He sounded like a schoolgirl with neckfat. Whatever he's got, it must be exotic.

Gary & Ron's "eulogy" was triggered by Burkhardt having filmed a kind of 'Day in the Life of Jerry' feature this afternoon.

Almost sounds like the Wilpon's or Jay H. distributed new talking points today.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 07 2009 09:20 PM |
Hey, Eckstein actually got hit by a pitch without purposefully leaning into it.
|
Fman99 Aug 07 2009 09:23 PM |
Ollie cruising through 4 innings, one hit. It's like he's a pitcher or something.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Aug 07 2009 09:27 PM |
If MLB were a prison, Kevin Correia would have a "DW" branded on those sweet, new-meat cheeks.

David 3-3 tonight, 9-11 off Corriea lifetime. Bing!
|
Fman99 Aug 07 2009 09:30 PM |

What a creepy and awesome thing to say.

Ollie sets Bill Brasky down looking.

God, I wish I could go bowling with some cavemen.

Venable pops up to Pagan, and Ollie has one more 1-2-3 for Old Nas-sau.
|
Edgy DC Aug 07 2009 09:39 PM |
If Ollie can keep his pitches in the strike zone tonight, maybe Francoeur can keep his bat there.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Aug 07 2009 09:40 PM |
Can't remember the last time the Schneid had a hit.
|

Wagner taught the Mets nothing. Just throw the most money at the guy with the most saves then throw up your hands when it all goes wrong... and it will...

Frayed Knot Aug 08 2009 08:19 AM |

The newly called-up and just-in-for-defense Andy Handy is your culprit. He got rid of it quickly and the throw was hard - but putting it on the 1st-base side of the line is the worst thing you can do there, If anything err to the 3rd base side. Worst that happens there is the catcher gets killed. And maybe I'm just imagining things but it seems that just about all our relay throws this year have been just off enough to prevent a bunch of outs. They're either in-between bounces, or on the wrong side, or whatever. That's why I thought it was a stupid move to send that big lug home - a better throw has him dead and there were no outs at the time. Of course when your closer faces 5 guys and retires none of them it kind of doesn't matter.
|
MFS62 Aug 08 2009 10:28 AM |
On the pitch just before the slam, the batter was struck out. The replay showed the pitch got at least a few inches of the outside corner. But the ump called ball three.

Edgy DC Aug 08 2009 01:19 PM |
I blame the ump when the ump blows a call.
|
Kong76 Aug 08 2009 01:25 PM |
The replay shows didn't do that ending justice in just how craptacular that
