IGT, 8/14, Homecoming Mets at Giants and Zito

A welcome home press release for ya'.

<blockquote>The New York Mets today unveiled several enhancements to Citi Field highlighted by new high definition video boards in Right Field and on the Promenade Level to make it easier for fans to follow live action in all areas of the ballpark. The boards will make their debut tonight with the Mets 7:10 p.m. game against the San Francisco Giants.

The Mets have erected a new 18-foot by 32-foot HD video board in the Right Field corner that will conveniently allow fans in Left Field and down the third base line to track live action whenever the ball is in play. An additional 8-foot by 14-foot HD board will show the live game broadcast to fans in the Promenade Food Court area behind home plate.

The addition of these boards complements the Center Field and Right Field boards, those facing into the 2K Sports FanFest, and more than 800 Sharp HD televisions throughout Citi Field. A new LED board that will display league standings and other information will be added to the Out-of-Town Scoreboard in Left Field.

To improve sightlines in the Promenade Level, the Mets are lowering the LED ribbon boards hanging on its façade by approximately one foot. The first phase of work on the boards on the Left Field Landing has been completed. In addition, the metal edging on the glass railings at the bottom of the stairs and aisles throughout the ballpark are in the process of being removed.

"In our ongoing effort to serve our fans, we proactively sought their feedback - through direct dialogue and e-mail, and via online and in-person research," said Dave Howard, Executive Vice President, Business Operations, New York Mets. "These new enhancements are a direct result of that communication and are designed to make the Citi Field experience even more exceptional."

The Mets also have begun installing photographic imagery of famous Mets and historic moments in team history on the Field and Promenade Levels to complement the banners on the exterior of the ballpark. The team championship banners are also on display on the Left Field wall.

Darryl Strawberry, Keith Hernandez and Dwight Gooden cover the side of the Empire Suites by section 106 in the Right Field corner on the Field Level. Gil Hodges, Tom Seaver and Jerry Koosman jumping into the arms of Jerry Grote celebrating the 1969 World Series championship cover the other end of the Empire Suite Level on the third base side near section 126 on the Field Level. Images of Mike Piazza and Casey Stengel will go up in Left Field during the current homestand.

On the Promenade Level going from Left Field to Right Field are images of the 1986 world championship team; Al Leiter, John Franco and Edgardo Alfonso; Rusty Staub, Tommie Agee and Tug McGraw; Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes, David Wright and Johan Santana; and Gary Carter, Mookie Wilson and Lenny Dykstra.

The guy I buy tickets from is a season ticket holder in Promenade section 424. The railing there bends back so you can hang your elbows on them and see the field........except in that section where he is. They told him they would fix it, I've not talked to him in a few months to if they did but I am going soon so I'll see.

I'm just being silly, my Sunday plan tickets are obstructed by glass, stairs,
and metal. I like to stand in the outfield better than sit in those seats.

METS:
Angel Pagan CF
Luis Castillo 2B
David Wright 3B
Gary Sheffield LF
Jeff Francoeur RF
Fernando Tatis 1B
Omir Santos C
Anderson Hernandez SS
Robert Parnell RHP (2-4, 3.94)

Livan stays in the rotation (why?), there's a locker for Billy set up, and Jerry is "optimistic" that Beltran will be back this season.

If not, who would replace him?

I'd rather see Figueroa get the start than see Livan anymore. Figueroa could be part (I'm not saying he will be) of the '10 Mets. There's no way that Livan will so let's see what Figueroa can do.

KC, it may be called bitching to some, I like to think of it as caring in mob-like fashion. Glad that they listened. Shocked that they did.

Me too, but as many times as I send Omar my tryout video, he never calls me back. Maybe I should send it to Adam Rubin instead.

Tidy 6 inning outing out of Parnell.

Mets up 2-sniffle entering the home sixth.

Guess we should have given Bobby a shot at the rotation sooner! Nice game so far!

Uniforms look kinda fun, too. I don't want to see them wear these all or even part-time, but for a weekend they're kinds of neat.

Barry run, goshdarn I'm glad the Mets didn't fall into that trap of a contract.

Why do night games I go to never end at 9:30?

That was sweet, looking forward to tomorrow's big fat pitching matchup!

Great game. Short pitcher's duel, just the way I like it. Think it was the shortest game of the year.

The new video boards are working but I couldn't tell you what they're like as I just see the main boards from my seats. No sign of the improvement to the OOT scoreboard yet. Pictures in the concourse are great but they have Nikon logos on them. Couldn't we just honor the Mets without another corporate sponsor or advertisement?

Uniforms are possibly the ugliest things I've seen in many a year on the Mets (black jerseys and hats excepted).

Hail to the banners. Hail to the '69 and '86 corner displays, miniaturized as they are versus the Shea versions. Hail to the RF video screen which was a big bleeping help. Hail to etching 1969 Mets into the grass. Hail to the blue and orange Cow Parade cow in the Prom food court (part of a salute to Flushing). Hail even to the uni tops that didn't match the uni bottoms because they clothed winners. I didn't see all the Promenade imagery despite looking. I did see my first game from the Pepsi Porch in the company of Met Fairy and DGW along with the man who brings you perhaps the funnest for Met obsessives blog [url=http://www.metswalkoffs.com/:25n0jahi]Mets Walk-Offs[/url:25n0jahi]. Got there way early and discovered virtually no line for the Shake Shack, which hence couldn't be resisted. A great night for yours truly and Bobby Parnell.

Above the stairwells. Not exactly prominently placed.

Ah, within the seating bowls. I circled the concourses and came up empty.

Hell, it's something.

Nope -- in the concourse. As in, above the entrance to the stairwells. Not at normal eye level.

I had fun sitting with G-Fafif and dgwphotography at the game, and appreciated Han Solo (and his adorable son) making a trip up to the Pepsi Porch to say hi.

The old timey uniforms aren't the Mets' best look. But if they continue to have 2:19 shutouts while wearing them, then they can wear 'em forever.
