="Benjamin Grimm":12glrfu9]Injury delay???
David Wright, HBP then leaves for a pinch runner???
Geez...[/quote:12glrfu9] Wright got beaned on a fastball up and in by Matt Cain. Looks like he's ok, but he's going to have a hell of a headache.

Did he trot down to first base? Or did he immediately come out of the game?
If he has a concussion, the Mets should put him on the next flight to Denver.

he got BADLY shaken up by it. smelling salts were out, he tried to say I'm ok but nobody was having any of it. I'd say he's gone till tuesday anyway and I wouldn't be surprised if it was longer. It really was a big ding off the helmet.

He took it on the helmet, which flew off, and then fell on his face.

It's absolutely unreal.
How much time did Mike Piazza miss with his 2000 concussion? I'm thinking about a week?
Hopefully this isn't even a concussion at all, but if it is, I really hope the Mets have learned something (hah!) from last year's Ryan Church fiasco.

]Wright hit in head, leaves game
Mets slugger struck in left side of helmet in fourth inning
By Brittany Ghiroli / Special to MLB.com

NEW YORK -- David Wright left Saturday afternoon's game in the bottom of the fourth inning after being hit in the helmet with a pitch by Giants starter Matt Cain.
Wright was in an 0-2 count when Cain's four-seamer struck the left side of his helmet by his ear, and the infielder immediately fell down on his stomach, where he lay motionless until team trainers rushed out. After several minutes, Wright was flipped over and was able to walk off the field under his own power, albeit with some help from the trainers.
Fernando Tatis was inserted as a pinch-runner and remained in the game to assume Wright's responsibilities at third base. Wright, who entered the game batting .325 with eight homers and 55 RBIs, flied out to center field in his first at-bat in the first inning.
For a Mets team already missing starters Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes, any serious injury to Wright would be catastrophic.

why warn both benches there? by throwing behind a guy you send the message "don't hit my guys" without any danger of hurting anyone, whats the big deal?

Just walked in the door and saw FOX showing the beaning , then they show Sanatana retaliating by hitting two guys?

he threw behind Sandoval (who then homered), he hit Molina on the elbow in what was arguably just an attempt to pitch inside.

Thanks nymr , no reason to think that Cain was throwing at Wright?

No win for you, Matt Cain.
Now suck me.

Phillies and Braves tied at 3 in the bottom of the ninth. Bases loaded for the Braves and Church strikes out swinging.
Infante singles to defeat the Phillies (like it matters for the Mets).

'nother blown save for Lidge - this one due mostly to his own double-error on a sac bunt (first he bobbled it, then he threw it away)

Would be nice if Wright & Sheffield were coming up after this ... instead of Tatis and pitcher. Hell, I'd settle for Beltran & Delgado too.

Well, nice to see a New York team win.
Actually, I'm surprised the Mets didn't ask the Giants if they wanted to wear some throwback unis this weekend.

another depressing loss and another big injury. the mets should just send everyone on a paid vacation until march 2010 and let replacement players finish out this cursed season.

I'm glad Johan knew what to do once David was hit.
But how the hell could he miss Pablo Sandoval?

Even if they were to painfully castrate all males in the Molina family, it wouldn't change History. But if I could invent a time machine ....

Where's that list? Ace, loses, best hitter nearly killed and the two "victims" of retailiation hit the HRs that destroy us. GAWD
