Bob Murphy died on August 3, 2004. The Happy Recap, however, [url=http://faithandfear.blogharbor.com/blog/_archives/2009/8/3/4276661.html:2rcylzd8]lives on[/url:2rcylzd8].

Some cool stuff there:

He's the voice I hear for the Mets of my heart. --- The Old Mole

"It's like losing a brother." --- Ralph Kiner

Hey check this out! --- Wide BeeGee, shaming his profession with an ampersand, but introducing us to a prehistoric G-FaFiF

Also cool that Murphy very typically was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. --- The Big Train

This has turned into the nicest thread ever. --- cooby

What does this have to do with the Yankees though?

Has it really been five years? Good God, time really flies. Feels like yesterday.

Growing up in northern New Jersey as pretty much the only Mets fan in my grade was tough. But some of my best memories of middle school and early high school are of sitting in my room, listening to the Mets game on the radio, with Bob Murphy and Gary Cohen. There hasn't been a broadcasting team up to their level since Bob Murphy died. I really miss him.
