I'm not the biggest fan of Mota, but I think Fielder overreacted. Sure, Fielder being hit was in retaliation for Ramirez being hit earlier in the game, but Mota threw at Fielder in the proper way*. Mota didn't "bean" Fielder as the linked article worded the incident, he hit Fileder in his ample belly (or maybe it was the upper thigh of his left leg). It's not like he threw at his head or knees, where the risk of injury is far greater.

*Proper way as in old school hardball. If you're going to throw a purpose pitch you aim for the ribs where the message is delivered with minimal risk of injury.

I will never forget the look on Piazza's face in Spring training a few years back when Mota drilled him

What a punk

Fielder should have waited in the parking lot for him

It was Shef who got Mota out of there, wasn't it?

I will also never forget the horrificly awful attempt by Shawn Estes to bean Clemens.

By '03 Shef was in the Bronx.

Brian Jordan was the culprit.

Is there anywhere to find video of Piazza/Mota part deux?

I have searched Youtube to no avail.

The Fielder invasion seems pretty half-hearted to me. If he really wanted in, those security guards better hope that Milwaukee's players could restrain the guy because they seem pretty powerless.

It was scarier when he tried to beat up Manny Parra in his own dugout.

That video has a WWE-backstage feel to it.
