Per Metsblog.com:

]The Mets announced that Mike Pelfrey did not travel with the team to San Diego, as his wife is giving birth to their first child today. He will miss his sheduled start on Saturday.

Congrats to the Pelfrey's , this doesn't mean that his kid walks onto the CPF kids team.

Does Oliver Perez have a kid?
If so, I bet he walks early... and often.

Odds that, one night when he thinks nobody is looking, he gives his kid's pacifier a try: Off the table.

You've just made me ruin a keyboard with spit-out soda. Thanks.

Quality work, gentlemen.

So I guess this means Elmer Dessens starts Saturday?

Nothing against Elmer but why bother starting him , why not bring up a young kid form the minors and give him a start?

Word is, they're moving Parnell to the rotation.

Mike Pelfrey's while holding newborn son Chase slipped on a spill in the hospital but grabbed a handrail to prevent the fall

Unfortunately he strained his hamstring and will return to NY for an MRI

Chase Michael Pelfrey, 7 lb, 14 oz.

I guess CitiBank ran out of money for naming rights.

That's what I hope happens in next year's ERA race, that the other NL pitchers Chase Michael Pelfrey.

I have to say, I don't understand the appeal of giving your first name as your son's middle name. Doesn't make sense to me.

Always seemed very logical to me. Passes on the name without giving the exact same name.

Were Vic, Rollins and Raul also under consideration?

(The LWBetterHalfer and I are planning on using the middle name to double our naming-rights. But, seriously... how the hell did 'Chase' become so damn popular?)

Why not? If I had had a second son, his middle name would have been my first name. (My actual existing son has my dad's name for his middle name.)

My wife works in the day care field. You would not believe the travesties being handed out as handles to these kids today.

In an odd quirk I am the only one out of six kids in our family that was not given a middle name.

Lunchpail has a preschool buddy named Cougar. Can you beat that?

Somewhere on the internet, perhaps on a western wildlife forum, some wiseacre is cracking that Cougar has a preschool buddy named "Lunchpail."

Does he smoke, and only date infants?
