Per Metsblog.com: ]The Mets announced that Mike Pelfrey did not travel with the team to San Diego, as his wife is giving birth to their first child today. He will miss his sheduled start on Saturday.

Congrats to the Pelfrey's , this doesn't mean that his kid walks onto the CPF kids team.

Nothing against Elmer but why bother starting him , why not bring up a young kid form the minors and give him a start?

I have to say, I don't understand the appeal of giving your first name as your son's middle name. Doesn't make sense to me.

Always seemed very logical to me. Passes on the name without giving the exact same name.
