IGT: Giants @ Mets--08/16/09

METS:
Angel Pagan CF
Luis Castillo 2B
Gary Sheffield LF
Jeff Francoeur RF
Fernando Tatis 3B
Daniel Murphy 1B
Omir Santos C
Anderson Hernandez SS
Mike Pelfrey RHP (8-8, 4.88)

How I hate Jon Heyman, MFY-loving hack. This morning, he tweets:

SI_JonHeyman off to mets-giants game. it'll be nice to see a contender playing at citi field.

We're aware of the standings. What was the point of that crack?

Purpose of the crack was to be mean and show his MFY induced sense of entitlement

Hoping David is resting comfortably. He certainly deserves the best.

You can add Wallace Matthews to the Sunday hack list

Look at that lineup: Only two of the starting eight (Murphy and Castillo) were supposed to be regulars back when the season began, and one of them, Murphy, isn't playing in his expected position (left field).

You Betcha...How many of the above names will be members of Mets University next year 3?

Giants broadcasters commenting on a FAFIF tee worn by a CitiField spectator. The Polish Prince able to identify the numbers easily.

I love Ralph Kiner. He sounds great.

Howie Rose just directed the listening audience to "a great website called uniwatch-dot-blog." Way to go, Howie. Next inning, he plans to discover The Google.

Was this the TV guys? I have the TV sound off (and WFAN on) so I didn't hear it--I rewound until 1:47 when I started watching. Was it at 1:53 when you posted?

Holy crap. And I say that in a good way, which is nice.

I'll echo Gary Cohen here , Castillo may never have hit a ball farther than that.

Castillo just hit a second-deck home run.

Apparently, I'm on drugs.

Fuck!
Just the mention of him means the Mets will lose. His dark cloud is that powerful.

EDIT: Castillo homers? Maybe our own mysterious forces are at work.

How the hell do you get picked off when the pitcher is trying to sacrifice? The only SF run was due to a lack of range by Hernandez (or even the brains/ability to dive and smother the ball). Oh, how he does stink.

AndyNandy adds a CS (Leaving early on the sac bunt by Pelf? Ill-advised steal attempt?) to match his terrible, no-good, very bad glove day (1 error, iffy positioning/range and 2-3 other sailed throws, saved by Murphy.)

On the plus side... Pelf strong like bull (and batting in the 7th!).

My Mets attention span might not be what it used to be but Keith just said that this game is a " very important game for both teams , probably more so for the giants"....was he talking about the Mets or another team in another series ongoing?

Sergio Romo in to pitch for the Giants ... does he go out with Ashley Simpson?

I demand a walkoff win.

I was just about to say that I don't think we've had a walk-off since about May sometime.

Howie Rose just said that this was a "biiiiig game, especially for the Giants."

Don't bunt, steal instead.

A happy recap! Yeeha.

If for no other reason, Giants deserve to lose for the landing strip on Affeldt. I half expected to see female genitalia under there.

Just got home from the game. My dad and I stayed through the 6th inning, he just couldn't take the heat anymore. Castillo really CRUSHED that ball. I was so pissed off when the Giants broke up the no-hitter. But all in all, a nice day at the ballpark, and the Shake Shack burgers were delicious as usual.

BMFC:

Kuiper and Krukow were ragging on some dude in a chef's hat down the LF line in the first two innings. He was sporting a FAFIF retired numbers tee, that Krukow was able to decipher.
