Andy Green has been DFA'd--Pat Misch recalled. Misch has been starting of late.

I was hoping Minaya might pull a fast one and recall Seaver or Ryan after DFAing Green.

What a lineup that is

Home long enough for the ceremonies and maybe the first inning before I head out for my buddy's bachelor party.

Looking forward to seeing all the old Mets out there again.

Howie's the right guy to be out there emceeing. He gets it.

Well...Gentry looked inspired, and a bit uh, well, gay

Redding looks so good through two, I momentarily thought I had beer goggles on.

I wonder how the SNY crew decides if Gary, Ron and/or Keith will wear a polo shirt, a jacket and tie, a jacket but no tie, or a dress shirt but no jacket or tie. Tonight's a polo shirt night.

Redding tiptoes around two-out base occupants for a third time.

Not sure... but I swear Ron was staring daggers at Ralph during the last half-inning.

(Maybe because he's the one forced into standing?)

Ashie62

Pignatano is sloshed

I think Ron was bored..lotta old men in the booth

Pignitano mentioned Fantasy Camp. Besides Joe, five others from tonight were at Camp when I was there: Kranepool, Gaspar, Swoboda, Dyer, McAndrew. Pignitano was very warm and friendly to us.

Rollins makes a sweet stop on a Castillo laser (you can't stop him, you can only hope to contain his bustin'-loose power), and the Mets catch a break on the "safe" call at first.

He always struck me as friendly..I'm guessing Krane & Dyer were quiet, Swoboda a cut-up. Great you got to do that**

Koos gets a stool. Keith isn't giving up his seat for anyone.

Ron, apparently, needs a better agent.

Ashie62

Kooz is sloshed also...Keith's stool?

Correct on all three counts. Kranepool was reserved but spoke with you if you approached him. Dyer didn't say much, even if you asked. Swoboda was having fun the whole time.

Catlike-- to be fair, more Garfield than Abyssinian-- agility from Redding on a grounder to end the top of the 4th.

He's cruising with uncommon and uncharacteristic ease so far.

Ashie62
Aug 22 2009 06:43 PM

I'm not sure Duffy was a man of words ever..

I could see with these guys if you come to them respectfully they would give you a moment rather than the stink eye

I swear Kooz was getting drunker as he spoke

More like Siamese...bred to protect the Buffalo herd..and 1969 night!

Murphy double and a Santos walk (!) and a Valdez groundout mean Mr. ChinPubes has a chance to help his own cause (TM).

Tomorrow, against... um... that guy with the eyes and two arms.

Seriously, I must be drunk... Tim's looking great. (1 hit, 4 baserunners through 5.)

True, but there were exceptions, like Gaspar who came over to us to say hi, shoot the bull, and make sure we were having a good time.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr

Sheffield hits some great foul balls!

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr
Aug 22 2009 07:05 PM

Um... 80 pitches through 5 innings, with 1 hit allowed.

So... he's pulled for Misch? Really?

metirish
Aug 22 2009 07:09 PM

Utley didn't misch that

bmfc1
Aug 22 2009 07:17 PM

Geez, Misch is so bad that he makes us miss Redding. That's tough to do.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr
Aug 22 2009 07:19 PM

Redding generally does well against the Phils... and he was cruising. And he'd thrown 81 pitches.

(AND, if you're feeling a bit cynical... he's a FA after the year. If it's the pitch count that had him coming out... then why the f*ck is he on a hard pitch count?)

Only in 2009 Flushing moment # 739:

Anderson Hernandez... pinch-hitter.

I tell you, nothing celebrates former championships like handing current legends like Dave Williams and Tim Redding the ball to start.

Edgy DC
Aug 22 2009 07:49 PM

Nothing celebrates the legacy of Gil Hodges like the manager pulling a cruiisng pitcher throwing his best game of the season after 81 pitches because of delusions that he's going to find the magic formula to a bulletproof bullpen.

There may have been other managers I've disliked more. But I don't think there's been a single Met skipper who's turned my language as dirty as our own Gangsta-in-Chief.

Cohen mentioned a pitch count when he was setting the game up, still as noted he was cruising and a win tonight would have capped a nice night.

I don't remember much bitching about the Ryan deal, not even from Dick Young or the Otis trade

Fregosi sucked and Foy was a drug addict

I was out playing poker tonight so i missed the game, looking at the box score i need to ask: why was Redding pulled after only 5 solid innings and 80 pitches?

I still liked both Howe and Randolph less, Randolph had alot more to work with in 2007 (and the poor start to 2008) than Jerry has left standing this year, and this team did ok even with Delgado and Reyes hurt, it wasn't until Beltran joined them that the team really blew up.
