Chipper Jones killed a Mexican guy

Well, some would interpret the story this way.

Others, like Larry himself, would [url=http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-braves/body-found-on-chipper-120513.html:27ld5rnq]blame lax immigration restrictions and high summer temperatures.[/url:27ld5rnq] Whatever.

At least now we know what Mariano does with the bodies of people who die in his swimming pool.

Curious how Larry, Sr., finds a corpse and knows its immigration status.

I thought he homered off Ollie or something.

It's like the inverse of that "Disaster" post yesterday!

or he made the logical asssumption that a mexican, apparently dead from from dehydration, only a few miles from the border, found in a remote area on private property where no law-abiding person had a reason to be, was here illegally- its not much of a leap.

What's notable is that it (1) appears to be an assumption stated as fact, and (2) is irrelevant to the tragedy of a man dying of dehydration.

it isn't irrelevant, its part of the story behind his death, a possible why he was there and without food/water

From the thread title I thought I was going to read that he went into a Taco Bell instead of a Hooters.

It's not even established to be true!

A guy is near the Mexican border and appears to be Mexican. That doesn't make him illegal no matter how much logic you put into it. Many legal Mexican-Americans live in the border region. Thousands upon thousands. Many are also in poverty, lost, and desperate.

I don't know what to do with the implication of that "law abiding" thing. Many otherwise legal residents are capable of tresspassing on a 10,000 acre ranch.

It might be established to be true -- the article doesn't say one way or the other. Perhaps the dead guy had ID on him, but the police didn't share that with the public.

This headline could be set to music:

Chipper Jones killed a Mexican guy Chipper Jones killed a Mexican guy On his ranch and without a car he was out too late, he strayed too far ...

I can see this as either a fifties teen-tragedy rock ballad OR a young Johnny Cash ripper.

the sub-headline to the journal-constitution article said he had ID on him, but thats not in the article, if it was the basis of Jones Sr.'s knowledge then its a poorly written article.
edgy- i stand by my statement that it is a logical assunption to make under the circumstances.

I haven't been able to find any article about it that doesnt directly copy (usually with attribution) the Atlanta Journal-Constitution one, the local Texas paper (San Antonio Express News) makes no mention of it that I can find (pretty damn strange, I can't imagine a dead body being found not showing up in the Staten Island advance, no matter who it was)

Did they change it? The subhead I've got says, "Braves star says man on Texas property believed to be illegal immigrant."

I keep picture Chipper as the lead guy from "No Country for Old Men," finding all the dead drug deal guys laying around in the desert and taking their money.

Wouldn't it be a bitch if that I.D. was a US passport?
Or a visa of some type (work permit, student visa)?
