I tried to post a POTG thread, but I received this error message -

Error 403: Forbidden

Your PHP settings have been disabled by an H-Sphere administrator.

Please bring your PHP configuration in compliance with admin settings or request your administrator to re-enable support of your settings.

Do I have to change something, or do the admins?

Thanks.

Re: How Can We Fix This?

I think the problem is that you were likely attempting to post the boxscore using HTML code and it no longer works with the updated software for the site. I think you will need to use the "Img" and "URL" buttons the site provides from now on.

I've been trying to post in the book thread , image and text but all I get is this. I have been able to post in other threads with just text

Re: How Can We Fix This?

I have to go to an all-day meeting today. If the other admins can't help, please don't think that I'm ignoring you. I'll get on this when I can.

Re: How Can We Fix This?

I don't know if this is the final answer, but I'm detecting a pattern...

If you include the "http" and the colon and the slash-slash in the URL of your image or hyperlink, you get that PHP error that metfairy pasted above.

URL's work without the http, but they want to start with a www.

If I try to link to google.com, it doesn't work, but if I include the www, it does.

When I tried to link to the Yahoo box score (at sports.yahoo.com) for the Schaefer thread, it didn't work because the URL didn't start with www. (And I don't know what can be done about that!)

In summary: For URL's, omit the http and make sure there's a www. If your URL has a prefix other than www, you're SOL.

Re: How Can We Fix This?

Except that when I try to submit a url but erase the http stuff so it'll begin with www it automatically keeps putting the deleted intro back in.

Re: How Can We Fix This?

type www followed by dot followed by google.com

It will add the http stuff in after you submit. But if you type the http yourself, it will barf on you. (At least, that's the pattern I've noticed so far.)

Below, I'll do what I suggested in the first line of this post:

www.google.com

Re: How Can We Fix This?

It did add the HTTP, even though it's not visible in the post. But it is a working hyperlink.

But if I try to edit the above post, the HTTP string prevents it from being saved. (I'd have to know to remove the http before resubmitting.)

It's a pain in the ass, I know. Hopefully we'll get used to it.

Re: How Can We Fix This?

So I had an image I wanted to post , I ommited the hhtp// and it worked on preview but not on submit....and in order for this to work the link needs to have www after hhtp//.....

Re: How Can We Fix This?

Yes. HTTP = bad. WWW = good.

Since some URL's aren't valid with a WWW (if they have a different domain prefix, like sports.yahoo.com) then there are some URL's that simply won't work. All we could do is post the text of the URL, but it won't become a hyperlink.

The part Grimm is talking about where you'd need to re-remove the http prefix upon editing a post is also true after you preview a post.
IOW, if you compose a post without the http but then preview it to see what it looks like the system will insert the http part back in. So before hitting 'Submit' you'll need to re-erase the http intro to avoid getting the dreaded 'You suck and you're powerless' message.

Now we just have to set a color for links so they don't look like dead text.
