IGT--Marlins @ Mets, 09/10/09

METS: Angel Pagan CF Luis Castillo 2B David Wright 3B Jeff Francoeur RF Fernando Tatis 1B Nick Evans LF Omir Santos C Anderson Hernandez SS Bobby Parnell RHP (3-7, 5.25) I'm excited that Black Eyed Peas and Tim McGraw will be performing before the Mets-Marlins game. No Beltran tonight. Jon Heyman tweets: SI_JonHeyman#mets might try to trade luis castillo this winter and take a look at orlando hudson. when have we heard this before?

Re: IGT--Marlins @ Mets, 09/10/09

I think Castillo, for what it's worth, is much more tradeable this winter than he was a year ago. There's one fewer season remaining on his contract, and he's coming off a better season. He'd probably still be a tough sell, but it's no longer unthinkable that someone might be willing to trade for him.

Who or what is a Nick Evans? Sounds familiar. Is he that surly, older yellowish-skinned chap with the back troubles?

So far we've turned a single into a double, issued a free pass, and turned a definite out/possible DP into all runners safe. Any chance we can actually make the Fish earn their win tonight?

[quote="Kong76":26wju5yk]And which of those players do you have on fantasy teams? (lol, just askin')[/quote:26wju5yk] Out of tonight's Marlins/Mets lineups and the 3 2nd basemen mentioned in this thread; between my 3 fantasy teams, I have (or had until yesterday): Chris Coghlan Hanley Ramirez John Baker and I just dropped Chone Figgins yesterday when I realized that my one team has a 75 steal lead and is also leading by a wide margin in runs scored; but was lacking in Homeruns... I learned years ago to not draft Mets players, the last Met that I drafted was Piazza the year that he tore his groin muscle...

Geez, even the "great" Bill Webb stinks tonight. He shows the guy touching home, which he's going to do unless he falls down, and misses the force play at second.

Not that the batting title is all that in danger, but it's pretty funny that a 9-6 takes the hit away, FC.

He's probably a downgrade defensively even from Castillo. The only position-- as per UZR, Dewan's Fielding Bible and most trad defensive stats-- at which he's decent? Well, suffice it to say that it's occupied for a while by a guy you see a lot on advertisements around here.

Darling with some very pointed comments about coaches meddling with great young players with a track record, thinks they are wrong to make changes in their swing and approach at the plate. They were talking about Wright at the time.

Someone should put out a low-light video of the Mets base running blunders of 2009 (8,7) and set to some funny com- mentary with some music. $19.95, I'd buy it.

But what's bothering me is that the last three months have suggested to me how much Jerry really doesn't have the goods. At all. I mean, talking about championships? A lot of us won't live to see that day. In the meantime, give us a game you're going to fight over.

It's great to see the old man again. However, in the context of this series, I see him quite differently than I did in his appearances of the distant past. Now I picture him holding his broom out to the pitifully inept Mets as they pass by and telliing them, "Up yours."
