Don't they ever rest Howard?
A well rested Howard: no fielding agility, can't run, creams the crap out of the ball; An unrested Howard: no fielding agility, can't run, creams the crap out of the ball; Why would they rest him? It's not like he's gonna move fast enough to get himself tired... I take it that the first game was the one that Manuel thought that he had a chance of winning...other than the 3/4 of the lineup, that is not a starting 9 to compete with the Phillies bashers...but at least I get to see a rare game on tv tonight...

Tony Danza is singing the National Anthem tonight.
A local cab driver here in Danza Country once mesmerized me en route to LaGuardia with tales of how Tony and he used to travel in the same circles and he (Tony, that is) wasn't so great. It could have been my driver singing the national anthem tonight, y'know.

I don't know if you've heard (it's gotten attention in the Philadelphia area anyway) but Tony Danza will be teaching a high school course in an inner city Philadelphia school this year. It's for, of course, a reality show.

that's scary, Danza's acting has always made it appear to me like he'd be lucky to earn a G.E.D... I owe Tony an apology...looks like he's got a Bachelor's Degree in History...
He graduated from the University of Dubuque.

From Tony's WikiP entry:
Danza attended Malverne High School, graduating in 1969 and was said to score a near perfect SAT score.
You still hear tell of this score among neighborhood children's tales and the bedtime stories of cruel parents. According to legend, if you listen to the winds over Hempstead Lake just past the witching hour every third September 27th, they'll whistle his multiple-choice answer sequence.

I know the part about going to Malverne is true. Can't speak as to the SAT score.

I think this is the first day we've rested Francoeur. He missed a game or two, I think, when he injured his thumb but he's been an everyday guy virtually since the day he got to the big leagues.

I like what I've seen from Frenchy as a Met...I like his agressiveness, power and defense...and while he has been swinging at alot of 1st pitch strikes, he's been successful on first pitches (batting .361 with a .567 slugging percentage on the first pitch of at bats) & hasn't struggled terribly with strikeouts (79 strikeouts in 530 plate appearances)...

A loss tonight eliminates a chance of a winning season Time for the 22 game winning streak The Lake Hempstead winds only sing multiple choice answers on the 9/27 of leap years or far too many cab drivers would like in Dubuque

Murphy's two-out double came on Pedro's ninth pitch. But it was the first strike of the at-bat.

Time for the Phillies to give Pedro what the Mets used to give him --- the gift of blown saves.

Mets should have scored about 13 runs tonight. Pedro threw 130 pitches. The Phils pen was taxed and struggling, and the Mets barely even got into it all day.

But let's be honest, they're deficient so many other positions they really have no other choice but to bring him back.

I didn't see one pitch of the four games this weekend , can't remember the last time that happened. Pedro - 130 pitches?

Even when other teams-- hell, even when a demoralized rival-- are practically begging them to, this team can't even f*cking spoil.
