I want Jesus

I want Jesus Feliciano because he was the MVP of the Buffalo Bison(s). I want him because a promotion for him, though he may welll not be in the Mets plans, tells minor leaguers they are rewarded for good efforts. I want him because another Feliciano would really screw up Grimm's PotG tabulations.

Mostly, I want him, because --- assuming Tobi Stoner gets in a game, and I'm betting he will because John Maine will be on some wicked pitch count of, like, seven --- Stoner will be 2009 Met number 53, setting Feliciano up to become the 1967 record-tying 54. Provide some round-the-clock coverage on that, huh ESPN?

And yeah, a little Adam Bostick --- who certainly is worth looking at --- warming up to become record-smashing 55? Why not?

MVP of the Buffalo Bisons? , that's got to be worth something.

Right! The guy has a good season on a sucky team, so reward him for his season. What could happen? It's going to cut into the PT of Angel Pagan or Cory Sullivan? Big deal. It sends a bad message and reinforces the perception that ownership is cheap.

Re: I want Jesus

You really think that's why he is not yet called up?

Re: I want Jesus

I don't really care who thinks that ownership is cheap. Folks say that no matter what. It's just nice --- and hopefully inspiring --- if Jesus's teammates get to see him rewarded for his effort.

Both good choices, and for the right reasons. They have both earned their shots in the majors.

Also, he gets to give the Costner "Show" speech, except with a segment about how he was used to sac-bunt from five different spots in the lineup. Also, in Spanish.

Re: I want Jesus

There's a perception that the Wilpons are cheap. I don't buy it--they have the 3d highest payroll in the game--but if you only call up two guys, you feed into that perception. Whatever the reason, it's time for Jesus to be a Met.

Yabbut, then you yield control to the cheap-cryers. The cryers of "CHEAP!"

I want him for other reasons. Equally dumb reasons, maybe. OK. Dumber.

Re: I want Jesus

The guy's 30, hasn't tasted the bigs, and is coming off his third straight .300 season at AAA for the Mets. Sure he has no power, but that just means he'll fit right in. Is there any good reason not to?

I'm starting to confuse all these Feliciano's with the Blind singer

The blind singer is the one who doesn't play baseball.

Another thing he does not have in common with these Mets is that he's been to a World Series.

It's strange how much I want this team-record to happen.

Hell, bring Kunz up to get hammered. Let Davis get a taste. Let's just get to 55.
