This poll (www.cranepoolforum.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=6144), cursed by underparticipation, needs a victor, as I may find myself marooned in solitude any day and need to get my mixes ready. Note that polls are easier to post now, allowing you to add all your selections at once rather than continuously re-submitting. You are also given options to allow voters to choose more than one selection, or to change their votes. Nonetheless, you must review the samples from links, rather than from embedding. Please note that no write-ins are allowed, as this is a runoff. "New Sensation" www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMUILorWSMM "Don't Change" www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1ImjjR3BTA "What You Need" (from the too-little-remembered Austrailian leg of Live Aid) www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKN4kyDy2lc I also have to say, having all your work disappear if you forget to delete an h-t-t-p string from your post is maddening.

Edgy - I also have to say, having all your work disappear if you forget to delete an h-t-t-p string from your post is maddening. Definitely. I had to submit (and often retype or rephrase) a post in another thread 4 times before I could get it to go through. I am quickly learning to copy the text of my post before hitting the submit button, just in case the software decides not to accept it as originally submitted.

Re: INXS RNFF

Our inability to post actual embedded YouTube links makes me want to vomit, ejaculate, and then pee in anger. In that order.

Re: INXS RNFF

I like INXS. X is a great CD, and we caught them on that tour and it was one of the better concerts I've seen. The follow-up, Welcome to Wherever You Are, is good, too, but didn't get a lot of love at the time. "Beautiful Girl" is a wonderful song.

Re: INXS RNFF

Yeah, I don't wanna live in a NBF without embedding. It makes me want to fart, hurl and punch myself in the neck in that order.

Re: INXS RNFF

"What You Need," ah reckon-- that "DAAAAAAAA, DA-DA, DA-DA" riff in the chorus cinches it for me. And embedding is, like, 30 percent of my moves. Not being able to reach for that in my quiver makes me want to wink, crinkle my nose, and defecate so hard I make my ancestors scream in agony.

Re: INXS RNFF

In short, it's maddening. Hopefully, we'll find work-arounds to these issues. Anyhow, all of the INXS videos had embedding disabled. Meantime, we're still tied. Grrr.

Re: INXS RNFF

It was close, but I eventually went with "What You Need".

Re: INXS RNFF

Just listen to "Don't Change." It's insistent, it's loving, it's thrilling, it's self-sacrificing, and it transends era as rock 'n' roll should. In fact, it may be only real evidence there is that INXS was a rock 'n' roll band at all. It's the right choice and I'm sure the surviving members of the band would agree.

I knew the song, but never knew that was them... always thought of it as a Husker Du number. Turns out it's just the best Bob Mould song he never wrote. Vote's been changed accordingly. (Though, glossiness aside, "What You Need" is a pretty damn strong song, as well.)

Re: INXS RNFF

Wow. What jerk I am. Supporting "Don't change a thing for me" by insisting people change for me. Still, good man.

Re: INXS RNFF

Not sure how you got down to those three, but I would gone for "Burn For You" or "Devil Inside" as rockier songs. But "New Sensation" is just a terrible, terrible song (IMNSHO).

Re: INXS RNFF

In the first sentence is a link to a prior poll that left us with those three tied. Agreed about "New Sensation." It's rumbling and stopping and shaking and stopping and it's like an experimental plane that never gets off the ground. It's like all intro.

Re: INXS RNFF

Here's a funny story: The canadian douchenozzle who won the Reality show to be INXS's new singer quit the band but told everyone he was fired. He has gone back to living in his car. Those who will admit to seeing the original show will remember he was living in his car then too. oops, no embedment. Grr. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=403MHWCB-X8

I watched it , there should be a thread or two about it . One assumes he is living in a bigger car now though.

Re: INXS RNFF

I wouldn't put those songs in the poll in my top three. But I have odd tastes. I like "Disappear," "Listen Like Thieves," Suicide Blonde" and "Beautiful Girl" among the newer stuff, and "Original Sin" of the older stuff. Did stumble across a live CD that came after "Live Baby Live," but it's heavy on the "Full Moon" CD, which wasn't one of my favorites.

Re: INXS RNFF

Just for fun, I looked up JD's competitors. And just as funny: Runner-up Marty Casey was hired, then later replaced, as the singer for L.A. Guns. Talk about a booby prize. In the days after the INXS show his band was hired to support INXS on their tour but he caused bad feelings when the record company insisted the record be released under the name "Marty Casey & the Lovehammers" rather than just LOVEHAMMERS. Now they're back, playing weekends at local Chicago clubs. I liked his song "Trees." Mig was the goofy looking Australian guy who finished third. He's doing musical theatre and stuff.
I wouldn't put those songs in the poll in my top three. But I have odd tastes.[/quote:2mqhrr1b] They're not mine either. They're just tied atop the previous poll, making this the runoff.
