Let Them Sing It For You ( [url]http://www.sr.se/p1/Src/sing/) lets you turn anything you write into a song.

Or you can re-arrange already existing songs ([url]http://www.sr.se/P1/src/sing/index.htm?key=SGE5R7EO).

Did you go through and listen clip-by-clip from the beginning for it to build? Of course not - you take one cursory look, and brag that you can do better. Good luck in your genius...

Hey, sorry I ran over your dog, pal. The truth is I listened to a couple of the clips and I did not find them particularly amusing or clever.

If I were going to attempt to make people laugh, or entertain people, I would do it the way I do it on this forum. I'd use my own voice. I wouldn't pretend to be some fat washed up Padre.

And as for fman99sextape.com, I'll leave that to one of the many women I've known for them to bring that site up. God knows I've left my share of audio behind, ask G. Gordon Liddy.

Hey, Shrivel-Dick Williams-- I DID listen to some earlier clips, and a few samples in rough chronological order besides. When I listened to one or two, I thought it was a little "meh." Now, I hate you a little more than a little, and want a time refund. I am older and dumber for having given you my attention. Children's TV show characters that need to be fired

The Poop commenter redfive had an interesting tangent about the TV show "Thomas & Friends" in our recent "Convincing your kid to get rid of toys" post:

"Off topic: I have no clue how Sir Topham Hatt still has a job. The island of Sodor is the most inefficient and dangerously run railroad in history. I would rather ride in the Indiana Jones Temple of Doom mining cart than take a trip from Knapford to Tidmouth on any of those death traps."

Anger and criticism towards fictional children's cartoon characters is a popular sport in our house. While we have successfully banned whiny brat Caillou and his super enabling helicopter parents from our televisions, we have a lot of discussions about the annoying little trust fund dogs on "Kipper," who eat nothing but cake and always bitch about having nothing to do. ("Do any of these dogs have jobs?" "Why is Tiger such a sanctimonious a**hole?""What did they do with all the humans?" )

The sustained employment of certain kid show TV characters is another frequent topic. While I don't wish a pink slip for anyone -- real or fictional -- in this economy, I'm constantly baffled that the same bumbling screw-ups can enjoy continued employment. It sets a bad example for my children to see a guy run the most dysfunctional railway in history continue to receive a paycheck. That type of thing should only happen on Wall Street or in a Ron Dellums administration, not on kids' TV shows.

Below are five children's show characters that need to be fired. Yours in the comments. I only chose programs that are still on the air in some form, although you're welcome to question Fred Flintstone or Hong Kong Phooey's work ethic if you're so inclined. I also eliminated characters who are clearly supposed to be bad at their jobs. (Homer Simpson, etc.)

Everyone except Velma and maybe Fred ("Scooby Doo"): In the 41 years since this cartoon has been on the air, I can't believe no one has thought to hire Velma away from Mystery, Inc. It would also make sense to bring Fred along, for his contacts and to act as the face of the organization. (I imagine this scenario would be just like the end of the third season of "Mad Men.") Practically speaking, Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby Doo are at best dead weight. When you weigh in health benefits and the inevitable trips to rehab, they're a huge drag on the organization. Velma and Fred are the Edge and Bono of "Scooby Doo."

DJ Lance Rock ("Yo Gabba Gabba"): I have this reoccuring nightmare that our awesome real-life wedding DJ didn't show up, and DJ Lance Rock appeared in his place instead. You can imagine the rest: All the songs have slightly different words, but sound exactly the same. They're impossible to dance to, and the only percussion comes from 1980s arcade games. Hey, I loved the 1980s, too -- half this blog is nostalgic posts about "People are Talking," the Thompson Twins and "The Karate Kid." And DJ Lance Rock seems like a decent enough guy. But there's only so much Atari 2600 graphics and Nintendo 8-bit sound effects one man can take. DJ Lance Rock is the worst DJ ever.

Sir Topham Hatt ("Thomas & Friends"): Considering that Sir Topham Hatt seems to be more of a robber baron/dictator than a CEO, who has enslaved a bunch of anthropomorphic trains on his secret island, I'm thinking a firing might not go far enough. He really needs to be tried for war crimes. In any event, the Island of Sodor railways are so badly mismanaged and filled with preventable accidents, that it makes Muni look like the shining jewel of transportation safety by comparison. I'm especially annoyed by the fact that Sodor appears to have the broken-down infrastructure of a Third World country, but everyone dresses like English royalty. Fire Hatt!

Everyone on "Fireman Sam" ("Fireman Sam"): The majority of the firefighters on "Fireman Sam" are competent at their jobs. But a solid 95 percent of their calls are due to the gross negligence of local youth miscreant Norman Price. If the town leaders of Pontypandy were willing to stand up to the firefighters' union, they could put Norman Price in juvenile hall where he belongs, fire the entirety of the department and pay a fraction of the cost to get fire services from the county. (What's that? We're the only ones who watch this show?)

Spud the Scarecrow ("Bob the Builder"): I've often theorized that Farmer Pickles must have a meth lab or pot-growing operation on the side. How else to explain why he can afford to spend $60,000 in contracting work to put a fence around 12 carrots? The drug hypothesis would also explain the completely off-putting presence of Spud the Scarecrow -- easily the most randomly creepy character in all of children's television. ("You know what this otherwise harmless children's television show needs ... a Christopher Nolan "Batman" villain! ...") I've only seen Spud scare one or two crows, but he's caused about $12 million in damage, job delays and workplace accident insurance premiums. And he can't be good for tourism in Sunflower Valley ...

What children's TV show character do you think needs to be fired?

PETER HARTLAUB is the pop culture critic at the San Francisco Chronicle
