I seem to be able to post a note, like this one, with no link, but when I try to post a link, the H-sphere gives it to me up the PHP.

Remove the h-t-t-p-:-/-/ from your link. Apparantly that's some sort of devil language that our sofware now rejects. We'll look into fixing it.
