Re: IGT 09/23, Atlanta at New York

I know there is little reason to break down lineups anymore, but.. A. Where is Evans? come on.. B. Schneider again? I was fine with him getting a start here and there, yesterday. Two days in a row? Sept isn't enough time to evaluate Thole as it is, never mind if he's going to sit for Schneider. C. Francoeur needs surgery. The season is over. Is this just a small sign of the disconnect between management, doctors, and players? I understand _he_ wants to play, but it can't hurt to evaluate Pagan and Evans (and even Sullivan and Reed, one of which could return next year as a bench guy). Tell him flat out he's done, go get the surgery. Obviously we need to evaluate Francoeur's place in the 2010 Mets as well, but it's starting to sound like the Mets have already made up their minds, and what real evaluation can you do when he's injured anyway? Griping out of the way, I'm only going to sorta pay attention to the game as I go about other things.

Re: IGT 09/23, Atlanta at New York

I just checked in, and it's 4-0 Braves in the third. I haven't been feeling too warm and fuzzy about Mike Pelfrey lately.

Re: IGT 09/23, Atlanta at New York

We finally get two of the core players in the lineup at the same time (Wright & Beltran) and neither one of them can hit right now. David is absolutely killing the lineup lately except for that one game in Philly

Re: IGT 09/23, Atlanta at New York

I can't figure out whether we should have more runs at this point because of all the runners they've left on -- or fewer runs at this point because all we're doing is hitting dinky grounders that are either just sneaking through or being mis-played by the Bravos.

Re: IGT 09/23, Atlanta at New York

It seems obvious to me that Pelfrey is just sorta trying things out. Extra curves, etc. Which is understandable, he's got a spot next year. This is pretty much winter leagues for him.

Just amazing! This time it's two on with no outs and it only takes Hudson two pitches to get out of it untouched.

Note to Gary, the rain looks worse because often the shots are from cameras 3-400 feet from what they're shooting. The picture is looking through 3-400 feet of rain drops.

Re: IGT 09/23, Atlanta at New York

As much as the last two seasons were the absolute worst in the way they ended this alternative is a lot worse , for me anyway.

I agree. Playing out the string is no fun. The last two Septembers I was riveted. Now, I'm barely paying attention.

Re: IGT 09/23, Atlanta at New York

I like to pretend that I'm still following this team, but usually I watch/listen to an inning or two and then read the IGT to find out what happened. So a big thanks to the 'pool for keeping me informed.
