2010 Tentative Schedule

Not waiting 'til next year, MetsBlog has tentative 2010 sked. Interleague: MFYs into CF in May. Mets to Baltimore, Cleveland and MFYS III in mid-June, with home games against Tigers and Twins to follow. Open at home for first time since '06, vs. Marlins on April 5, 1:10 PM. Close at home for fourth year in a row, vs. Washington, October 3. Go to Philly end of April, they come here toward end of May, right after MFYs. Braves visit late April; we go there May 17. Cubs show up in April but we don't go to Wrigley 'til September again. First half ends with homestand. From ASG in LAA, it's a long slog on the Coast: SF, AZ, LAD. No Cali after 7/25.

Are they in Baltimore on a weekend? (I'm guessing probably not.)

Yup: June 11-13.

A couple of weirdo road trips:

Milwaukee and San Diego (5/28 - 6/2)
Houston and Pittsburgh (8/16-8/22)

Weirdo in that I don't recall those combos from recent seasons.

Potential weekend travel destinations, 2010 (all dates Fridays):

4/16: St. Louis
4/30: Philly
5/14: Miami
5/28: Milwaukee
6/11: Baltimore
6/18: MFYS III (like you'd want to spend a weekend there)
7/2: D.C. (includes 4th of July)
7/16: San Fran
7/23: L.A.
8/6: Philly
8/20: Pittsburgh
9/3: Chicago
9/24: Philly

For our Acela corridor friends, @ Nats 5/19-20 and 9/6-8 (Mets play on Labor Day!). @ SD on Memorial Day 5/31.

Re: 2010 Tentative Schedule

This mean worry warts will actually be clamoring for Mets to make the All-Star game this year? as it means they'll already be recovered from the jetlag by the time they play the giants after the break.

What's with the weird 2 game series with the fish in late September, sandwiched by a Monday and Thursday off day? I can definitely see that being a makeup of a florida rainout though.

I'm picking 9/24 in Philadelphia as the day they clinch the division.

Extra day of rest for Johan to pitch that clincher.

That makes more sense. I figured there was a Flo Rida concert and they needed the stadium.

Re: 2010 Tentative Schedule

Strange schedule, as usual. Still waiting on a trip to or visit from the White Sox. Don't know why we can't go to Minnesota, given that they were just here in 2007. Would also like the Royals for once (instead of Detroit and Minnesota, again).

Consecutive year visits to the Orioles? Bizarre.

I for one like the weekend trip to Milwaukee. I was getting sick of taking off work to see the Mets play those 3 games during the week.

Re: 2010 Tentative Schedule

I agree with Gwreck: it's odd that they are going to Baltimore, an AL city that isn't The Bronx, in two consecutive years.

They play on all national holidays this year (as opposed to this year when they were off on Labor Day) and two of the national holidays are against the Nationals.

No west coast trips after July 25--from that date, the furthest they go (until the playoffs!) is Houston and Chicago.

I love that in a season as miserable as this, the first 2010 thread that pops up is full of optimism.

Go Mets! (next year)

Memorial Day barely counts, since they're playing at 10. All three holidays away from Citi too. What beats a holiday tailgate barbeque?

I think a road trip to Washington for July 4th might be a fun adventure for me next year though. It's a Sunday, Monday is probably a day off, should be a popular game.

Re: 2010 Tentative Schedule

Baltimore in June and Washington in July are potential weekend road trips for next season. I haven't been to Camden yard and have always meant to do so, now I have a good excuse to hit the road. I haven't been to the Nats new park, though there will be ample opportunities to see it in the future. I guess I'll see how things shape up come next spring.

Re: 2010 Tentative Schedule

I was fairly certain they would have met the Blue Jays next season. Does anybody recall the last time they played the Blue Jays and the last time they played in Toronto?

The answer to both questions is June 25, 2006:

Re: 2010 Tentative Schedule

Thanks. For some reason I thought it was longer. I guess there's been a lot of history written for the Mets since the last time they met.
