Anyone listened to this yet? I haven't really enjoyed much Pearl Jam since Yield, but I've been hearing good things about this newest release and I am contemplating picking it up.

Re: Backspacer

I have it , like it plenty. My fave since "Vitalogy " , although " Given To Fly" (Yield)at various times is my fave song from them. Brendan O'Brien is back as producer for this album , "The Fixer" is excellent , most of the songs are in the three minute range...for the last several years I have bought their various bootleg albums and been happy with that....this for me is a return to form...

If it's like "Backstabbers", I'd like it

Re: Backspacer

I bought it from iTunes and just now I downloaded the two free live concerts that came as a bonus, from reading the Pearl Jam site a lot of people that bought the CD at Target didn't get a serial number for the free concerts , in fact a lot of people said target didn't even have the CD and they are the official retailer ...... You get a cool booklet with the iTunes too....to get the free concerts you need to sign up..... I DL Santiago and NYC

Not yet but I've heard good things about it. Had a ticket for the Halloween-night show at the Spectrum in Philly but wound up giving it away as a favor. No NY shows yet.

Re: Backspacer

I've listened to this on a continues loop every chance since getting it...basically yesterday and this morning coming to work....first thoughts are ...it's got punk..short snappy songs ....it's got pop....great melodies ....it's got an 80's new wave feel to it too....some of the drumming especially reminds me of The Jam...the guitars have that fuzz sound at times and no drawn out guitar soloes ....and no brooding songs although there are a few slower ones which I really like. I'm not going to choose "stand out" tracks because I feel that messes with me when I listen to it again.

Re: Backspacer

I dig it. Short, no-nonsense rockers and a couple nice ballads ("Just Breathe" sounds like it could be an extra from the "Into the Wild" soundtrack). The Target marriage was a strange one, but this was their first album away from their Sony contract, I think, and they were trying to be creative maybe. Not sure. They did a partnership with the Indie Record something-or-other and 800 independent stores were allowed to sell it, as well. I got mine at one of those in LB. No extra goodies.
