Astros: M. Bourn cf M. Tejada ss L. Berkman 1b C. Lee lf H. Pence rf A. Boone 3b K. Matsui 2b H. Quintero c W. Lopez p Mets: Angel Pagan LF Luis Castillo 2B David Wright 3B Carlos Beltran CF Daniel Murphy 1B Jeremy Reed RF Josh Thole C Anderson Hernandez SS Nelson Figueroa RHP (2-8, 4.70) Francoeur gets the day off. WTF? Geez, Jerry--I'm half a point out, tied in the runs category, and you're sitting one of my guys? I hate you. (And I know that no one cares about my fantasy team.)

Re: IGT--Astros @ Mets, 10/04/09

Wilton Lopez is a 25 y/o Nicaraguan RHP making his 8th appearance in the major leagues and his 2nd start. 0-1; 9.42 ERA; 14.1 IP; 26 Hits; 17 Runs (15 earned); 4 HRs; 6 BBs; 8 Ks; 2.233 WHiP His lone start was his last one in which he lasted 3.2 innings against the Phillies, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits and getting hung with the loss. He has given up at least one run in 7 of his 8 outings (1 scoreless inning vs the Cards) and the Astros have lost every game in which he has appeared. I had never heard of him prior to seeing his name in the above post.

NYPost_Mets Jerry Manuel was in meetings all morning and said he expects an announcement tomorrow on changes and the team's offseason plans.
NYPost_Mets Jerry Manuel was in meetings all morning and said he expects an announcement tomorrow on changes and the team's offseason plans.[/quote:3p63hbob] Again an example of the Mets promising more than they can deliver because, unless we're talking about mass-firings a la Omar & Jerry, there's only so much any team can do the day after a season is over. True, only an idiot would expect some kind of concrete plans or announcements of targeted player acquisitions, but that means there are gong to be a helluva lotta angry Met fans when they don't get exactly that.

Thankfully, this dismal, injury plagued season will be over in a few short hours. I personally can't recall ever being so happy to see a team come to a close. I can only hope that the upcoming offseason will be as fruitful as this season has been disappointing.

Fire the team doctors and we'll go from there.

Put it in the books. A beautiful complete game shutout for Nelson Figueroa!

Beautiful day, beautiful game, second home CG on the season, first home shutout. A great way to end a misbegotten season.

Well, I lasted through the sixth before the Jets were calling to tell me to get on the trains. I just felt like I had to go one more time, not sure why. Nice to sweep, happy for Figgy even though I don't expect him back as a starter (gosh, if he is the off-season didn't go well), and I'm glad the season is finally over. Sort of. Thanks to Stevie Jeets for the Brooklyn Lager and a familiar face to run into three times today as we wandered around the New Girl for the last time this year. Woulda liked to have run into LWFS, but I don't know what he looks like.
NYPost_Mets Jerry Manuel was in meetings all morning and said he expects an announcement tomorrow on changes and the team's offseason plans.[/quote:1rdpitup] In the post game interview on SNY he said "announcements will be made tomorrow about the coaches". Personally, I would prefer that he announce a blockbuster trade or three. But I'm not going to hold my breath. Later

You're not going to see trades announced on October 5. There won't be any trades to speak of until after the World Series ends.

MFS has to know that, he just has to. There'll probably be no significant action until after Turkey Day.

On my way out today, I saw Sandy Sr. hugging goodbye pretty much any employee he came in contact with. I guess the first move is the elimination of the coaching staff. As bad as Citi Field's rep was this year, the Mets finished 41-40 at home.

I get a kick out of the fact that five games went extras today, including the Nats @ Braves which went 15. Nationals wind up book-ending their season losing their first 7 games and winning their last 7.

Soon enough I'll remember what a rotten season this was, but the final afternoon at Citi Field was a dream. My own record at the new joint: 26-10. Without me, they were 15-30. I did what I could.
MFS has to know that, he just has to. [/quote:2sf7gqbu] Of course I do. Thanks, Kase. BTW, since there will be an AL playoff game, the "post season" hasn't started yet, so the completion of the Wagner trade can be announced this week. Later

G-F: My own record at the new joint: 26-10. <<< Yet another reason for the Mets to comp the forum a four block of season tix to properly represent and win.
