Red Sox ...it's close though....I do like both teams against the yankees

Angels. Completely done with the Red Sox; I want to see them and the Yankees finish fourth and fifth in the AL East in 2010.

Should be a "don't care" button or for my purposes "Just want a good series."

I like the Sox. I think if they can advance they could win it all, and any Sox success hurts Yankees fans egos. On the other hand, them getting killed by the Angels again could be fun.

I could go either way. With a gun to my head I pick the Angels because I have friends who are rooting for them.

My rooting interests in this year's post-season involves two things:

Benjamin Grimm Oct 05 2009 02:49 PM Re: ALDS rooting interest poll: Angels-Red Sox |
Me, I just want early exits from the Yankees and the Phillies.

The Angels scare the pompous horseshit out of most MFY fans I know.

I like the Angels' history of beating the Yanks.
|
Kong76 Oct 05 2009 05:51 PM Re: ALDS rooting interest poll: Angels-Red Sox |
I took Sox, even though I'm not as big on them as in year's past.

Angels, will not watch one inning

I voted for the Angels, though I have no strong feelings either way.

i always think of the Angels as the most synthetic of teams. Anaheim, Disney, Reggie Jackson's pullovers. The inability to identify with a single city. Thundersticks. Yuck.

sox, by a shade.

Valadius Oct 06 2009 08:37 AM Re: ALDS rooting interest poll: Angels-Red Sox |
Angels, simply because the Red Sox have already won one too many championships this decade. One was enough, two was overkill, three makes it ridiculous.
|
Benjamin Grimm Oct 06 2009 08:44 AM Re: ALDS rooting interest poll: Angels-Red Sox |
Wouldn't it also be overkill if the Angels won a second championship this decade?

Y'know, not only is Papelbon a bit of a meathead not to mention a chore to watch as he takes forever to throw each pitch -- but he's not all that good either.
|
Kong76 Oct 11 2009 01:59 PM Re: ALDS rooting interest poll: Angels-Red Sox |
Well that's that ... Papelbon's gonna feel like a piece
|
Valadius Oct 11 2009 03:31 PM Re: ALDS rooting interest poll: Angels-Red Sox |
Papelbon gets what he deserves, in my opinion, after his ridiculous dancing of two years ago.

Papelbon was never the same after the Santos homerun.
|
Frayed Knot Oct 11 2009 04:31 PM Re: ALDS rooting interest poll: Angels-Red Sox |
Maybe it's just one of those 'whenever I'm looking he suxx' situations. Or that his ridiculous pace annoys me to the point where I'm cutting him no slack at all.
|
metirish Oct 11 2009 04:53 PM Re: ALDS rooting interest poll: Angels-Red Sox |
When Wagner was traded to Boston I remember reading in Boston.com about the possibility of Papelbon not being with them after this season , apparently there has been plenty of talk about moving him.

His fielding-independent pitching (FIP) jumped along with the walk rate, and he gave up a LOT more line drives and fly balls this year before a bunch of cheap save opps the last two months helped those rates out.

Leave it to John Harper to interpret Francona's decision to choose matchups based on small sample sizes yesterday as the basis for a "Pocket-Protector-Wearing, Bill-James-Worshipping Stat-Nerds Ruin Everything With All Their Statsistics And Stuff" piece.

I could have sworn I saw Gene Mauch and Donnie Moore in the stands yesterday, when Jonathan "let me grab entire handfuls of Variteks ass" Papelbon was ending Boston's season.
