Is today also a day for volunteering? Four comic strips in the Daily News this morning mentioned "volunteering." (Hägar, Marmaduke, Blondie, and Dilbert.)

It used to be very popular. In fact, it was even a network TV series about 50 years ago. The strip is well past its prime, though. Dennis looked a lot less menacing once we met Calvin.

I still care deeply for Alice Mitchell. The volunteering theme has been going on all week, but today may have been its peak. Could you imagine the Lockhorns coming to plant your community garden?
