Link: Cracks Appear in Yankee Stadium concrete

The concrete pedestrian ramps at the brand-new $1.5 billion city-subsidized Yankee Stadium have been troubled by cracks, and the team is seeking to determine whether the problems were caused by the installation, the design, the concrete or other factors, according to several people briefed on the problems. The ramps were built by a company accused of having links to the mob, and the concrete mix was designed and tested by a company under indictment on charges that it failed to perform some tests and falsified the results of others.

I think the cracks are caused by all that Yankee mystique percolating out of the foundation.

If Jeter walks on the cracks, they will magically seal.

If those cracks are attributible to the Jeter mystique, doesn't that mean that he,gasp, caused them?

they're lucky that they'll just get sued by the team and that nobody can claim any injuries as a result (that we know of)

The ramps were built by a company accused of having links to the mob

so, a new york construction company then?

Yanqui President (and full-time asshole) Randy Levine claims that the report about the cracks in the YS concrete (link in first post) is nothing more than a smear campaign by the NY Times based on them being an owner (a very minority one) of the Boston Red Sox.

Yeah, that'll really improve the Times' profit margin.

That's sort of worse than what Omar did, isn't it? I mean, Omar said something along the lines of "We needed to, you know, investigate whether there was, knowhaImean, a confict of interest with the author of the story, and we were satisfied --- knowhamsayin' --- that the story was accurate."

Levine is outright claiming reporters are using outright deliberate misinformation to enrichen the newspaper's owners --- on CNBC, of all places.

"The New York Times are great people, but they own the Boston Red Sox," Levine said. "They haven't been too happy with our new stadium all year. They really don't like the fact that it's been so successful. They've been writing a lot of negative stuff."

Re: The House that Tony Soprano Built

the times should send someone to photograph the alleged cracks and run them on the front page of the sports section and call levine a liar.

Re: The House that Tony Soprano Built

The original story carried a photo complete with cracks.

Not that it matters anyway. I'm sure Levine doesn't even believe most of the shit he throws out there for public consumption. He's just the paid pit-bull for the Steingrabber family whose main feature is to trumpet how great the yanqui franchise is while whining how anything negative said about them is nothing more than the jealous sniping of those not fortunate enough to be wearing pinstripes.
