Google Wave

I am in on the beta. So, we can try and conjure up a CPF Wave at some point if there are others out there who also are in on that beta and want to play around with the technology.... Sorry to say, I do not have any invites to offer at this time. But if you're in, then start a new CPF Wave and invite me. My Google Wave name is my actual first and last names, separated by a period. PM me if you don't know my name.

What is Google Wave?

Re: Google Wave

As I understand it, it's like a document + social network at once. Good to organize projects and groups.

I have it but haven't been able to make much use of it. Looks like it would actually be better for work than personal use.

Definitely intrigued, and something that I'd definitely use from what I've seen, but I'm still waiting on an invitation also.

Google Calendar, Gmail, Contacts, etc. is very Blackberry friendly. I'd like to check out Wave, but nobody loves me ...

Re: Google Wave

I didn't mean you, I meant in general, if you we're answering me. Google is strange, I'm a Google head ... if they keep track of that stuff they should include me. I signed up a long time ago it seems to participate. Wah, I'm getting whiny.

OK FWIW, I'm on Google apps at least as much as you are. I should have gotten an invite from Google directly, instead of relying on the kindness of one of my Rutgers instructors....

When they issue you invitations to distribute, how do they do it? Do they just add something to your Wave?

I supposedly have an invite coming, but haven't seen it yet, so I don't suppose I'd kick another one out of bed just in case.

Re: Google Wave

Me & Metfairy gave it a run today. Our party was kinda lame with just the two us, we concluded. The upload/download options that would seem to make it more interactive by bringing stuff in we could both work on or whatever were grayed out for us, so in the end we were all, "what do you think?" "it's OK." "Yah, it's OK."

Re: Google Wave

Yeah, I'm hoping I can use it to collaborate with clients more effectively... I've used something called Cozimo (www.cozimo.com) for that purpose, and it worked well. I'm thinking eventually Google Wave and a few add-ons or plugins or whatever might help me do the same thing.

If someone is a Gmail contact of yours and you are both on Wave, that person will automatically show up as one of your contacts.

Re: Google Wave

I don't recall ever emailing with Seo in gmail, so I'll take your word for it that he was in my contacts. One thing I like about the google world is everything is all meshed so seamlessly and works quickly. I edited Seo's contact info in gmail to his real name instead of just that email addresss that was showing up -- flip over to Wave and refresh -- and blammo, it's updated there too.

Re: Google Wave

As a complete Google-phile, I'm surprised I don't have an invite yet - hell, I even have google voice. That's another benefit of having an Android phone - everything calendar, address book, voice, all sync up seemlessly

Re: Google Wave

Android is set up where all you have to do is enter in your google sign in name at initial set up, and it automatically pulls in your contacts and calendar.

Re: Google Wave

Blackberry is a little different, you have to get a 'google sync' app. After that anything you change in calendar, contacts, etc. that you change in either the device or on the computer it all stays sync'd up. Google maps has an app too, it's scary that it knows where you are all the time ... luckily I'm always where I'm supposed to be lol.
