Just back from visiting England and France.

Had a great time. Two nights in London, three nights in Paris, and two nights in Normandy. Just was able to see the basic sights in London, but had more time in Paris. Spent some time just sitting in a Paris sidewalk cafe (Paris is just like in the movies -- monuments all over, the streets filled with cafes, beauty shops, dress shops, and pastry shops, though not every window faces the Eiffel Tower).

France was just wonderful -- great food, very friendly people, and some beautiful towns and villages.

You saw London, you saw France. Whose underpants did you see?

WOW! The trip of a lifetime.

It's always neat to see paintings that everyone in the world knows right there in front of you -- and they're usually a lot smaller than you think!

Re: Just back from visiting England and France.

Actually, the paintings were about the size I expected. But it's a thrill to turn a corner in a museum and see something you've seen many times before. I've gotten that in US museums, too (e.g., the National Gallery in DC and, in a different way, at the Hyde Museum in Glens Falls, NY). The Musee D'Orsay, however, had all the important works of the Impressionist movement in one place.
