jerz: now that the cranepool forum has changed, are you as big an asshole on this one or have you mellowed? Do you still question the motives of why some chose to end long periods of not posting? and, most importantly do you still approach some with a confrontational, condescending attitude or do you seek the comarderie you claimed was missing form the previous iteration of the cranepool (perhaps never realizing that it was in part your fault?).............just asking <<< K76: Tell ya what, I'm gonna make this a public discussion. Have at me in the Bitch to the Admins forum! <<<

I've no reason to make it public, but you are much higher on the organizational chart than I so you are going to do whatever you want with it.......you were pretty strong in your comments upon my last venture into posting and I wanted to know if I should expect it to continue

Oh come on, you threw me a floater with that PM. I'm supposed to answer the PM of a former poster that basically calls me an asshole and give you individual attention to boot? I don't know what I did to you in the past that would even prompt a PM like that. Carry an on- line grudge much? Frankly, it's scary that you'd send it. Do you have a Kong76 voodoo doll? My back has been killing me the last couple of days ... remove some pins please. I don't need to be reminded that I am an asshole from time to time via PM's. There are two fora here, the BttA and Red Light, where any- one can rip on me all they want.

I'm never up on the details or backstories of any of these feuds. I still don't know why RKFast left all in a huff at Edgy and that was like six years ago.

I have no feud with anyone. I opened a PM today thinking maybe someone was gonna say they were going to the Jets' game tomorrow, and instead I got that nonsense.

still, with the holier than thou. I tried to keep it private, you threw it out for all to see. But, hell I got my answer, that's all I needed. Nothing new for me to see, I'm the oldnewold new kid here. The question was asked and answered..........moving on.

This seems rather bizarre. Who sends somebody a message that reads, "Are you still an asshole?" and then gets miffed when that's not taken in a friendly way?

Well, let's not quibble over words --- miffed/disappointed/unhappy. That's irrelevant. You're complaining. His point is that it seems irrational that you open a conversation with a guy by calliing him an asshole, and expect that he'd feel an obligation of honor to keep the conversation discreet. If we're going to include definitions of words in a message, how about a defintion of asshole, because if I'm trying to settle a months-old (years-old?) beef one way or the other, and I open with "Are you still an asshole?," I don't expect gentleman's honor, I expect a punch in the face, or the best electronic equivelant.

very true. But that is why I intended the conversation to be private. I returned a few monmths ago after a pro-longed absence. In a very, very short time KONG chose to vilify and "attack" me. That being the case, I abandoned my return figuring there was indeed some animosity from times long since passed. I've been on this forum and the MOFO for many years and it seems that in one of KONG's prior iterations, he did indeed have a beef with Old "JS" After some months had passed and I read KONG's thread regarding his departure as day to day forum manger and his citing of lack of camraderie I thought he might have mellowed and I attempted another return. There is NO QUESTION, that my PM was confrontational in tone,and in hindsight, a bad choice.

Then how about we please start over again? I've no doubt that Kong's seeming tone can grate, but I also know that tone is one of the things that gets lost in written communication. I'm an editor, and I wring my hands every day over questions of, "Will they read that in the spirit it's meant?" And part of what gets us as a community through that is tens of thousands of posts allowing us enough context to get past when someone's tone is questionable. Maybe it'll get you to (1) I'm not reading that the way he meant to write it, or (2) he's just playing an asshole, or (3) he's genuinely being an asshole, but he's a human and not a fulltime asshole and it'll blow over, and if I have to confront him, it'll be over the current issue and not his general character. But maybe it'll only get you to (4) he's a genuine fulltime asshole. (We're all at varying levels on the self-awareness spectrum.) But the admins work time into busy professional lives (during a frightening economic time when few of us can afford to goof off much*) and if we don't always take the time to delicately handle touchy situations or other issues, we're all sorry. But moderating a community is tough and keeping it lively and relevant is tough. Kong may not be the first guy I'd turn to talk a jumper off a building, but I'd trust him to have my back in a dark tunnel at Yankee Stadium, and that's something. Plus he's kind to kittens and shit. None of us are perfect, or always perfect gentlemen. But if you're going to approach us about how we handle this site --- or handle ourselves on it --- please consider 1, 2, and 3 before jumping to 4 (publickly or privately) if you're genuinely hoping to reconcile. As for me, I look forward with hope to your re-newed participation. I understand if you're not that interested. * I'm writing this sucker from work on a Sunday. Ugh!

I don't live under an online rock here. You, jerseysnore, have a much more checkered past in terms of getting along with others on message boards than I do by a good twenty fold. My suggestion, and final word on the subject, is that you focus on threads that interest you and leave the rest of this to just fizzle out.

Jers - not that Kase needs anyone to defend him, but I took his original tone toward you not as an attack, but one of caution. Taking in account of the history of this board and the other board, I would think that said caution would be understandable.
