She's coming back with her own network, which is surely one of the signs of the apocalypse...

My favorite line was that he said "Eat Drink Man Woman" was how Arnold Schwarzenegger had asked Maria Shriver out on their first date.

Re: Abdication

It made for great TV, cringe inducing and great to see the stars squirming in their seats.

Re: Abdication

I don't generally watch Oprah (my Internet time is my former TV time). But I know a ton of people who do - they're going to be in bad shape if the show doesn't re-emerge on Oprah's channel in the same time slot.

But how will lazy, middlebrow America know what Steinbeck or Morrisson to read now?

Re: Abdication

I never had a high tolerance for Oprah. I mean, she seems like a nice lady, and she certainly does a lot of good work helping people, but the few times I've seen her show I was put off by the "WOOOOOO's" and the talk of angels.

In all fairness, and as a librarian, I appreciate the fact that she has gotten people to read who otherwise never would have picked up a book.

Never watched it but I admire her from afar, for pretty much the same reasons metfairy sites.
