More War

It's not weapons of mass destruction this time ... nuclear weapons, and it was the only speed bump Obama hit in his speech by not being able to quite spit it out.

Re: More War

Some of the cadets looked like, "Dude, I started classes at 7:15 this morning and I have three hours of homework ... put a wrap on it already ..."

Re: More War

Not a rabble rousing speech but I don't think he was aiming for that. Reminding people of the timeline of events and why we are there was a good thing in my opinion. Setting a timetable even a flexible one was also a good thing, setting hittable goals is good. All in all I liked it , it's a nasty business but hopefully an end is in sight.

Re: More War

"I make this decision because I am convinced that our security is at stake in Afghanistan and Pakistan. This is the epicenter of the violent extremism practiced by Al Qaeda. It is from here that we were attacked on 9/11, and it is from here that new attacks are being plotted as I speak."
George Bush's lawyer called, he's suing you for plagiarism. This might have been the most i've ever agreed with an Obama speech, but isn't this the war policy he campaigned against?

Re: More War

How so? The war policy of his campaign I recall is (very oversimplistically) that Iraq is the wrong war and Afganistan is the right one, and that the wrong one has sucked resources away from the right one and that he intends to recommit resources to the right one.
