What were your favorite movies of the decade? (pick a max of 3) Almost Famous Memento Wet Hot American Summer What were the worst films released in 2000-2009? (no limit) Meet the Spartans/Date Movie/Epic Movie-- All this. The worst. Ballistic:Ecks vs. Sever/Bloodrayne/House of the Dead-- Except for these video game movies, maybe. 88 Minutes and Righteous Kill-- Terrible thrillers, and a waste of good Pacino. Well, a waste of Pacino, anyway. What is the best book you read, published 2000-2009....is there an author who is new to the scene in that time who jumps out at you? A particular author didn't jump out at me as much as a genre-- graphic novels-- did. From "Persepolis" to "Jimmy Corrigan" to "9/11: An Illustrated History," I liked what people were doing with panels. My favorite was probably "Middlesex" by Jeff Eugenides, though. What was your favorite cd that was recorded 2000-2009? "This is It," The Strokes. ("Funeral" by Arcade Fire as a close second. I have a special love for "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" around this time of year, though-- it may be the most Christmas-y non-holiday album I've ever heard.) What were your top 3 favorite songs of 2000-2009? (can have honorable mentions) Among singles, loved "Hey Ya!," "Get Ur Freak On," "Crazy in Love," "Hollaback Girl," and a whole mess of annoyingly hooky stuff like that. Toss in some "Maps," (YeahYeahYeahs), "Hard to Explain" (Strokes) and the Johnny Cash version of "Hurt." Also, a whole mess of Jay-Z, White Stripes, and MIA. The Franz Ferdinand single "Take Me Out." As for TOP 3? I'll let my subconscious decide-- the first three I named. What were your favorite tv shows of the decade? (pick a max of 3) The Wire Arrested Development Iron Chef

[quote="LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr":eod3i38g]"This is It," The Strokes.[/quote:eod3i38g] I'm glad this is looking like it will make a lot of the decade's best of lists. Considering it came out before 9/11...I would think it would be easy to forget. I don't read enough and can't think of movies outside of "good" and "bad". My Top 10 Albums 2000-2009 (off the top of my head in order of release): Rated R - Queens of the Stone Age (2000) Kid A - Radiohead (2000) Is This It - The Strokes (2001) The Argument - Fugazi (2001) Kill the Moonlight - Spoon (2002) Sea Change - Beck (2002) Hail to the Theif - Radiohead (2003) Funeral - Arcade Fire (2004) Return to Cookie Mountain - TV on the Radio (2006) LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver (2007)

QSA! Dammit. And I think I'd like to swap out Neon Bible for Funeral, too.

"This is it" and "The Wire" top just about any list I have seen in the Brit/irish rags I read.

Wire is on my list too. Dexter as well. And probably 30 Rock so my list is well-rounded.

What were your favorite movies of the decade? (pick a max of 3) Garden State House of Sand and Fog Brokeback Mountain What were the worst films released in 2000-2009? (no limit) Honestly, I see so few movies that I really can't say I hated any enough to put in this category. If I don't think I'd like it I don't watch it. What is the best book you read, published 2000-2009....is there an author who is new to the scene in that time who jumps out at you? Hard to pick one. I find myself reading essays and non-fiction more than anything else these days, and Chuck Klosterman and David Sedaris are the two whose work I enjoy most. What was your favorite cd that was recorded 2000-2009? "Asking For Flowers" by Kathleen Edwards What were your top 3 favorite songs of 2000-2009? (can have honorable mentions) "Last Fare of the Day" by Richard Shindell "Goodnight California" by Kathleen Edwards "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie "Cooperstown" by The Felice Brothers "Concerning The Lincoln & Douglas Debates or Love Found Lost" by John Elliott "The Shape I Found You In" by Girlyman "If You See William" by We're About 9 What were your favorite tv shows of the decade? (pick a max of 3) Scrubs Pushing Daisies The West Wing (started in 1999, but close enough)

What were your favorite movies of the decade? (pick a max of 3) Hoodwinked Chicago Hot Fuzz What were the worst films released in 2000-2009? (no limit) Battlefield Earth What is the best book you read, published 2000-2009....is there an author who is new to the scene in that time who jumps out at you? Best book: Gandhi and Churchill. Fascinating account about how the two men's lives intertwined and how they both influenced 20th Century, in ways most people don't expect. As of new author, it's clearly A. Lee Martinez. Very funny and imaginative fantasy novels. What was your favorite cd that was recorded 2000-2009? The Whole Fam Damnily by The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. Absolutely delightful swamp rock band. Peyton's guitar is amazing, as is his voice. And a defy anyone not to like Mama's Fried Potatoes. What were your top 3 favorite songs of 2000-2009? (can have honorable mentions) "Mama's Fried Potatoes" -- Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band "She Left Me for Jesus" -- Hayes Carll. Hilarious song (I prefer the "Saturday Night" version -- this is the "Sunday Morning" one -- but it's still great) "Jesus Shaves" -- The Roches. One of two terrific songs written by Paranoid Larry and sung to perfection. The last two may see odd choices for a Jewish boy, but, trust me, they're great songs. Honorable mention: "My Soul's in Louisana" -- Otis Taylor. Trance blues. Taylor is just fascinating to listen to -- the darkest of any blues musician I've ever heard, yet somehow very emotionally strong. "Live Free or Die" -- Hayes Carll. "Seven Nation Army" -- White Stripes "School Days" -- Loudon Wainwright III (cheating a bit -- the song was originally recorded around 1970, but Wainwright did a new version of it and many of his earlier songs a couple of years ago, giving them different interpretations). "Mr. Luck" -- Professor Louis and the Crowmatix. "No Shoes" -- The Roches. Another Paranoid Larry masterpiece. What were your favorite tv shows of the decade? (pick a max of 3) Doctor Who Pushing Daisies House
