Seriously, since they've already finalized the arena deal, why not move now? Set up a temporary home in Nassau Colliseum or something.

But it certainly would be an interesting idea. The only folks who would be pissed off would be the few fans who didn't follow them from Long Island (and elsewhere) to Jersey in the first place. And. of colurse, the travelling secretaries of the other NBA clubs, who would have to change those flight and room arrangements they've already made. Later

Re: N!-E!-T!-S! Nets! Nets! Nets!

Recent Nets News: 1) They are finalizing a deal under which they can move from the Meadowlands to the arena in Newark without penalty. They will play there until the Brooklyn arena is completed (est 2012). 2) They are on pace (if you call it that) to finish the season with the fewest number of wins in NBA history. 3) Ex-Net center Kim Highes was named coach of the Los Angeles Clippers for the rest of the season. If you remember what hoops maven Peter Vecsay used to write about him, this must have brought a smile to your face. He was terrible, and Vecsey frequently would let us know it. I couldn't imagine a Net center being worse, until I saw Jason Collins. Later

And the "record" they're going for isn't a dinky one either, it's around a .100 winning pct year IIRC. Not that any of this will stop talking heads from telling us how salary caps guarantee parity.
