Letter from the Governor...

I recently received a letter from Governor Bev Perdue appointing me to the Professional Advisory Committee for vision care programs in the state of North Carolina. I will execute the Oath of Office swearing in later today to finalize the appointment process for my three year term.

This past weekend I attended the annual summer conference of the North Carolina Optometric Society in Myrtle Beach, SC. On Saturday evening, I was instilled as the President-Elect for our professional society. This weekend, I will be heading to Salt Lake City, Utah for a week as a member of the North Carolina delegation to the annual meeting of the American Optometric Association.

Well, I know i haven't been around much the past few months. Tonight is the first time I have been able to sign onto the forum since June 5th or 6th. I don't know when my schedule will lighten up enough to let me goof off, I mean take part in the stimulating discussions, on the forum again with any regularity. On Saturday, June 9th I was installed as President of the NC State Optometric Society. Since then, work at the office is my stable time. The nights are a blur of email correspondence and phone calls. It is starting to decrease in volume the past few days. So hopefully, I will be able to get back online more regularly in the near future.

Well, my year as President of the North Carolina State Optometric Society officially ended on Saturday, June 8th when I passed the gavel to my successor. I am now the immediate past president, which everyone keeps telling me, is the best possible position. I have a few projects that I am helping to complete and then I will find myself with a lot more free time once again. I expect to be back in the Crane Pool on a regular basis again in a few weeks.
