Yeah, I should save you all the trouble but I'd be interested in some second opinions on this since I watched it having enjoyed the trailer and most anything Judge has ever headed up before but I was hugely disappointed.

The characters were all one-dimensional, and the plot was thin and stupid, which was a huge disappointment coming from the creator of Hank Hill and Office Space. Gene Simmons in a cameo gets off the best laugh, but he makes the same joke six times. Otherwise, Ben Affleck, you suck, and Jason Bateman as the lead has almost none of his customary magnetism. Even the great Sgt. Whathisface from Law & Order (the bald Dad in Juno, you know the guy) who's usually deadly funny isn't. I don't know what went wrong.

My wife, also a big fan of Hank and Office Space, explains:

"The plot as outlined in the trailer --- guy isn't getting any at home, develops a crush on cutiepie underling, gets advice from loser buddy who suddenly appears wise --- seems kind of sitcommy and hard to sustain beyond the standard sitcom 22-minute running time."

As for "Ben Affleck, you suck," Wifey says, "Duh!"

I liked the actor who played the prosti-lover. And the scary-friendly smoking session.

Otherwise... yeah, kinda disappointing all around. But I'll take shitty Judge over a lot of stuff, really.
