The decade with only eight years to it. Please choose the Met of the 1960s, disregarding as best you can, any performances from the 1970s.

The blue and orange-ribbon committee thanks you for your participation.

Seaver, for transforming the Mets from lovable clowns to World Series champs.

As Tom's plaque says, from lovable losers to formidable foes.

But if we could only award a player on decade, I'd pick Kranepool for Mr. 60s.

Even if that's when he was judged over the hill.

Jerry Grote, for transforming the people who transformed the Mets from lovable clowns into World Series champs.

I was hesitant to vote for Seaver here (as opposed to in the 1970's) because he only played three seasons in the 1960's. But then again, it was a short decade (only eight years) and in his three seasons, Seaver won a Rookie of the Year award and a Cy Young award, not to mention a World Series ring.

Seaver it is.

For the record, my five POTD's are: Seaver, Seaver, Hernandez, Alfonzo, and Wright.

Kranepool WAS the Mets. And this isn't the See Vair forum.

Shocking how we (with the sole exception of one anonymous voter) continue to forget about Cle'.

Re: Decades: Met of the 1960s

Cleon would have been my second choice.

I definitely considered him. He had more years than Seaver, but I felt I had to vote for the ROY/Cy Young guy.

Re: Decades: Met of the 1960s

Kranepool was my only choice. I guess I didn't fully appreciate how much time he spent in the minors. Really, though, the top four are pretty close. But I imagine nobody had Swoboda as number two.
