Hernandez is in the booth and HoJo is in the Met dugout.

Sep 21 2005 07:41 PM

Beltran ties it with a single following Reyes doing his lead off single and steal second thang.

Delgado drew first blood with his own RBI single following Pierre doing his similar thang in the 1st half.

1-1

After all that talk about having Diaz fill the 2 spot while Matsui is out, and batting Hernandez 8th, Willie has Cairo playin 2nd and batting 2nd.

You cant call that an experiment, Willie.

nothing in the game notes........

Mets - New York leads the National League with 144 stolen bases and is third in the NL with 55 pinch hits. The Mets are the only NL team to have six players with 10 or more steals and the team's .306 pinch-hitting average leads the NL. ... LF Floyd has a major league-leading 14 outfield assists, most for any Mets outfielder since Bernard Gilkey had 17 in 1997. ... RHP Seo has 10 strikeouts in his last 13 innings.

Whew...Seo gets out of a jam there.

Encarnacion is stranded at third.

Seos over 100 pitches.

I see no reason why he should continue on after this inning.
Well, maybe one more. But i think he's done his job for the night.

Great tidbit from Keith. He was giving Cabrera grief for being in the dugout walking around instead of in the clubhouse icing himself. He said he learned how to deal with trauma injuries because, in his first big-league camp, his roommate was Ron Hunt.

Still, I don't think it was a HORRIBLE call, except in retrospect.

What the frigging hell is the point of bringing Braden Fucking Looper into the game? Why? Can we try some of these kids, see if they can get some fucking guys out? Whose mother did Heath Bell screw? Why doesn't he pitch any more? Did Aaron Heilman's arm fall off and I missed it? Can you tell me why Tim Hamulack can't get a chance to get some fucking guys out?

GOD this team drives me fucking crazy.

Somebody, somewhere
In the heat of the night
Looking pretty dangerous
Running out of patience

Tonight in the city
You won’t find any pity
Hearts are being twisted
Another lover cheated, cheated

In the bars and the cafes, passion
In the streets and the alleys, passion
A lot of pretending, passion
Everybody searching, passion

Once in love you’re never out of danger
One hot night spent with a stranger
All you wanted was somebody to hold on to yeah
Passion, passion
Passion, passion

New york, moscow, passion
Hong kong, tokyo, passion
Paris and bangkok, passion
A lotta people ain’t got, passion

Hear it in the radio, passion
Read it in the papers, passion
Hear it in the churches, passion
See it in the school yards, passion

Once in love you’re never out of danger
One hot night spent with a stranger
All you wanted was somebody to hold on to yeah
Once in love you’re never out of danger
One hot night spent with a stranger
All you wanted was somebody to hold on to yeah

Alone in your bed at night, passion
It’s half past midnight, passion
As you turn out your sidelight, passion
Something ain’t right, passion

There’s no passion, there’s no passion
There’s no passion, I need passion
You need passion, we need passion
Can’t live without passion
Won’t live without passion

Even the president needs passion
Everybody I know needs some passion
Some people die and kill for passion
Nobody admits they need passion
Some people are scared of passion
Yeah passion

I see your point, but with Looper I can understand fans wanting to let him know how disappointed they are in him.
Im a positive supporter of the Mets, and very team minded, but if i was there and he didnt get thru that inning, id be booin too.

Before he even threw a pitch or allowed a runner to reach? Maybe not, but i would understand the people who would do that.

He's only blown the hope of the fans in every instance and level that he could, and seemingly only at times when we really want him to do his job.

I think the fans have every right to pick Looper as a scapegoat, even though he is not the only reason the Mets have failed.
Whether he needs to know or not dont concern me.

Tonight i wanted more than anything for Seo to get the win. Looper ruined that hope.

Ryes makes it happen.
Singles and gets second on an error.

Nice game by the much-maligned Miguel Cairo. He ran that rundown play perfectly from the second he got the ball.

Seo was better than the linescore looked. The Marlins had hits in every inning but many of them were cheesy little dunkers.

Reyes makes 2nd there because he runs to 1st expecting that the fielder will not make the play cleanly. If/when he does field it w/o a hitch you've got plently of time to get back but in the meantime you don't lose your momentum by anticipating that it'll only be a single. Most players don't do that and the slower guys are the ones who should do it even more than the fast ones.

Looper's problem was the walk. The hits were all dinkers but his lack of a 'K' pitch this year contributes to that.

The booers are stupid because they're booing before anything goes wrong.

Edgy DC
Sep 21 2005 11:46 PM

I thought the RBI single by Lenny Harris was a solid hit off of Looper.

The funny thing is that Hernandez seems to have the same problem as Loop --- the fastball is the only thing that's going over for strikes. He just has a few more miles per hour on it.

I wonder if Piazza gets any blame for letting Takatsu throw the fastball.

The victory --- along with Philadelphia beating Atlanta --- helped the Mets stave off elimination in the division for one more night. Mets are a game and a half out of fourth.

Willie had an interesting position, saying that focusing on being a spoiler is for losers, and that team should go out there looking to win for it's own sake.
