Ill just spend the afternoon typin to myself, if no one minds.
Benson reads (cant actually see) shakey today.
Just gave up another run on back to back Nat doubles ....50 pitches thru 3 innings.

6th inning:

Wright doubles in Beltran, who walked to lead off.

And DC intentionally walks Piazza.
Those bastards.......lol.

But the Mets take the lead...4-3

ScarletKnight41

I love Mr. Wright <g>

Zvon
Sep 25 2005 02:57 PM

I've been in and out. And cursing this game for being on FSNY, because it's not on my PC's TV card and I had a whole bunch of schoolwork to do on the PC today.

its kool.
i curse the whole state of the game where you only see few games for free on broadcast, anymore.
Remember when 9-WOR would show like 200 games a season?
those were the days, alright.

Phils still do that thru comcast. They show ALOT of games.
Im old school. I think its better for the team to do that. Show lots of free games on TV. Keep the connection.
But people will pay, so theyll charge for it.

Mike Stanton - still hurting us. (Although I feel if he was not overworked, he would have been a valuable member of the staff)

Benson is IN TROUBLE
with a capital T and a ROUB and LE

Wash. has bases loaded, 1 out in the 7th

Zvon
Sep 25 2005 03:27 PM

Zvon
Sep 25 2005 03:31 PM

sheeeeeeeeeee-it
Johnson singled to center, Watson and Spivey scored, Wilkerson out at home.

Nats take the lead,.5-4.

Mets are playin to stay at .500......

So dont be thinkin this game dont mean nothin.
(well,........to me.)

Zvon
Sep 25 2005 03:33 PM

Padilla in to pitch for the Mets.
He's gettin alot a work lately.

MFS62
Sep 25 2005 03:35 PM

With all the euphoria surrounding the fact that the Mets have scored four whole entire runs, let us not overlook the fact that they have managed only four hits today.
I agree with Edgy - the last thing you need for a win is a closer. And the last thing you need to have a winning team is also a closer.
You don't need a closer when you're ahead 13-2 in the ninth inning.
Omar, get us an offense.

ScarletKnight41
Sep 25 2005 03:42 PM

I told you that I love Mr. Wright <g>

Jake Monster can stay around too!

Zvon
Sep 25 2005 03:45 PM

Why did diaz steal 3rd there?
Whats the point?
2 out.
Well, he makes it.

But Reyes hits into a force to end the inning.
Now they gotta hold em. GOTS 2

Mets plate 2 and regain the lead.
Theres some offense for ya....

Later.

Zvon

Im thinkin Padilla for the 8th, and then whomever isnt getting Pedros starts,......heilman or Zambrano for the 9th.

If they send out Looper, Ill buck up and root for him.

Zvon
Sep 25 2005 03:51 PM

I may be getting a lil ahead of myself.
Paddy must get thru the 8th.
Nats have 2 on, both on errors, and 1 out

Zvon
Sep 25 2005 03:56 PM

And he gets out of it by K'in Cruz.
Whew.

Reyes and Cairo with errors in that inning, could have opened the floodgates. But Padilla does his job, and does it well.

Zvon, I mentioned a while ago (before you joined the CPF) that "later" means I hope to "see" you again. And at my age, that's meaningful to me. "Good Bye" seems too final. :)

Mets missed a chance at insurance runs .
They loaded the bases but Woodward PH for jacobs, and i believe he hit into a DP.
It blinked out.

It looks like Heilman for the close.

CBS sportsline has been a mess 2day.

MFS62

Pinch hit for a guy who already hit a homer in the game.
So he's a young lefty hitter facing a veteran lefty pitcher.
But they have the lead.
Why not see what the kid can do?
Willie should be boiled in oil.

I agree that Jacobs should not have been lifted.
This would have been a good time to see if he can hit a lefty in the clutch.

Zvon
Sep 25 2005 04:19 PM

So it was Hellman, and THEN Heilman?

Im confused cuz they have Hellman in the box score but it says he pitched 0.0 innings

Zvon
Sep 25 2005 04:22 PM

Well, no matter.
METS WIN a fine ball game and are one game above .500 at 78-77.
Its been a good day.

Good game and its really nice to see Piazza coming thru and puttin on a lil show for the fans in these, his last days in orange and blue.

(I did read that he was interested in staying on in a lesser role, but he put that out months ago, and the Mets didnt bite, so these games are his farewell tour as a Met)

You have no idea how far that Jacobs shot went.

I mean, kabooblampowiekersplatzohammer!

MFS62
Sep 25 2005 05:29 PM

So, Edgy, were you there?
It was hard to tell from tv, other than it headed toward the upper deck. Did it go in, or bounce back down?

Later

Edgy DC
Sep 25 2005 05:33 PM

Into the luxury suites hanging below the upper deck. It seemingly had only just begun descending.

MFS62
Sep 25 2005 05:49 PM

Those boxes are new since I last saw a baseball game in RFK. But I saw where they were on tv.
Your kab...er comment was very appropriate.

The Mets hit four in a stadium that doesn't yield them.

And none were down the line or scraping the wall.

Wowsers.
