Pinch single for Offerman. Castro reaches and Anderson Hernandez gets one more McCracken at the plate.

i was hoping Anderson would get that hit in his last AB, hopefully Willie will play him Sunday and he gets it, I swear his stance at the plate is a dead ringer for Reyes, little wiggle of the bat and all.

I hope so too. He needs to close the season on some kind of positive note.

If not, it'll kill his confidence...

Bingo! Dribbler between first and second and AH ends the season 1 for 18.

Congrats Anderson, picked a great day to get his first hit.

Did he beat Willie Mays to that first hit? Didn't Willie go o-fer 20+ AB before that homer off Spahn?
|

Mays went 0 for 24.

Which means this kid is going to be about seven ABs better than Willie Mays. That's pretty impressive.

Let's see how well the kid does in his next 10,000+ at bats.

10,000?!?!? Cripes, talk about setting expectations high. Let's see him at least get a full season in before we start talking about him joining an elite club of 23 other players in history.

I was trying to put the comparisons to Willie Mays in perspective. Anderson Hernandez went 1-18 in a late season call up. Regardless of how slowly Mays started his career, he did exceptionally well in the 10,000 plus at bats that followed.

Nobody was honestly comparing AH to the Say Hey Kid. I think it was just an observation.

Too bad he wasn't brought up earlier this year. I don't know what Willie and Omar were thinking. If he had replaced the Kaz/Cairo combo we would have definitely made the playoffs.
