Turn back the clock

The Mets are travelling from Washington to Philadelphia by train. Charlie Samuels, whose tenure dates back to before Tom Seaver was traded, says that he knows of no other train trips the team has taken.

Not even in spring?

According to the Daily News, its a three car private train.

I think all spring training trips are by bus.

Seems strange that they never took one, with all the promoting they do of Acela I would have thought that they would take the train to Philly and DC all the time.

Boo on the private train. What's the point of doing it without chasing female passengers naked from car to car a la Babe Ruth?

It'll be curious to see if the press corps files any different types of stories.

We now take a slight detour from the Metsiness of this thread, but stay on the topic Edgy just introduced- the pursuit of women.

When he was a junior officer in the British Army, Winston Churchill was Court Martialed for "Being out of uniform for chasing a woman, while he was naked, through the halls of a hotel."

Winston pled his own case before the Court Martial.
He based his defense on the British Army Uniform Handbook which stated "A British Officer shall be considered to be in uniform if he is properly attired for the activity in which he is engaged."

He was found to be "not guilty."

We now return you to the Metsiness of this thread.

I read somewhere there were women on the train. It was hazing day. Jacobs, Hernandez and Hamulack played dressup.

Jake was Daisy Duke
Hamulack was Elvira
Hernandez was a cheerleader (but was he as attractive as Cano and Wang?)
