Do You Reddmember the Tims of Your Life?

Tim Redding, now officially gone. He left what, exactly, to carry on?

First and foremost, his posing in the new Mets clubhouse and trying on 44 for the cameras at Citi Field. We had seen K-Rod, and I thought OK, he's a star. Then Putz, and I thought OK, he's been sort of a star. Then we're trotting out Tim Redding as Hot Stove beefcake.

And I had a hunch about 2009 from there.

I remember him saying how he always wanted to be a Mets player......he did say that right?

Stupid beard.

Out of shape.

Worthless in our hour of need.

Trixie Norton's great nephew.

Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month for September, which led to the first time I created a 1976 retro-card. I remember Edgy being disoriented by the glimpse of Shea Stadium behind Redding on that card.

If you look at Tim Redding, knowing nothing about him except he's a baseball player, what team would you peg him as playing for?

He just looks like a perfect Rockie to me.

One of the athletic prides of Rochester; an alumnus of Monroe County Community College. I am a fan of his; I was glad when he signed, and disappointed that the Mets didn't get more out of him.

He had a pretty good September. According to MLB.com, "Redding was at his best in August and September, going 2-2 with a 3.39 ERA in 16 games, half of them starts."

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he had a decent 2010. He may very well have a better season than whoever the Mets fifth starter turns out to be.

Re: Do You Reddmember the Tims of Your Life?

Redding is now dishing on former Nationals teammate -- and fellow former Met -- Mike Bacsik, saying that Bacsik grooved the pitch to Bonds to break the record.

Redding says Bacsik was probably trying to gain some attention or maybe cash at future appearances.

Bacsik Twittered the author, saying something like "Nice teammate."

Re: Do You Reddmember the Tims of Your Life?

Why would he even be bringing that crap up?......Redding knows all about grooving pitches up there.

Didn't Bacsik pretty much admit it at the time? This story seems very familiar.

One of my favorite blog headlines of 2009, from my partner, after a pretty good start:
