'Air America' to fly away

Just in case you weren't sure if it already had, the radio network designed to bring a liberal voice to the airwaves will shut down as of Monday (and air mostly re-broadcasts until then).

I consider myself a very liberal person yet so called liberal radio sucked so much I couldn't listen to it.

I think what was lost on those who tried to put that together is that conservative talk radio (assuming you even want to call such a thing a cohesive strategy) wasn't invented in a lab one day and sprung on the unsuspecting public as some kind of political strategy. Rather it evolved over time in response to a perceived unfilled niche by finding voices from various parts of the country who had already succeeded in the marketplace to some extent or another. The 'AA' model tried to not only concoct a 'team' of voices all at once but also wanted to make their first steps at the national level with talent that either hadn't yet played in Peoria or had done so but in a different medium (Franklin, Garafolo) that may or may not work in this one.

I tuned in occasionally over the years, and they did have some decent shows but those shows never seemed to last. A disconnect between the people running it and the customer, hmm, are we sure this is in the right forum?

I listened to it a few times and was annoyed by their being shills for the Democratic party. Democrat does not equal liberal.
