Picking a bullet of the month is hard. Not only did I have to divide our voting into five divisions, but almost all of our nominees (33 out of 35) received votes in that first round. Here are our five division winners from the first round, plus any second-place finishers that received as many as four votes.

Numbers shown are the posts sorting order from the first round. I think they should be more-or-less chronological as well. I beg you to take your vote seriously.

Leno sucks like a girlfriend trying for an upgrade to fiancee.

I know! I mean, they bring you this little bag of Nick Evans on the plane like they're doing you some kind of favor, and there's hardly any Nick Evans in there! I once asked for another bag of Nick Evans, and the stewardess told me I was out of luck -- only one bag of Nick Evans per passenger.

I mean, what is his deal?

Just being around Derek will make Minka a better wife.

I hear NBC just rejected a Leno for Castillo trade.

I want an owner with flaming eyes and the touch of acid. Batwings and a piercing sonic scream. I want an owner who's ten feet tall if he's an inch. If there's ever a hostile force rolling into the city, I want to be able to say, "It's OK, my baseball team's owner is guarding the bridge."

That's what I want in an owner.

I think you just described Marge Schott.

[quote="Edgy DC"][quote="Bob Klapisch"]The signing of Jason Bay has been virtually negated by the GM’s inertia.
Show me the math there, Klap."Bay swings, deep fly to left...but the failure to sign Ben Sheets causes it to fall harmlessly into Raul Ibanez's glove."

G-Fafif, despite competiting with himself, is off to a great start defending his title. You know what will make this drama really exciting? More votes!

Owner-with-batwings over defense-by-Ben-Sheets-signing-omission and fiancee-upgrades, by the slimmest of margins.

And, holy crap, G-Fafif successfully defends with this armor-piercing post:

Personally, I liked his first post on that page more.

Re: Bullets of January Showdown

What's the deal with these Bullets of Cool? I mean, whoever heard of a cool bullet? Those things are made of hot lead! If they were cool, Superman wouldn't have let them deflect off that big "S" on his chest. He'd say, "Hey, these are pretty cool...and refreshing! Would you mind shooting a few more at me, it gets pretty heated fighting bad guys all the time! And what's the deal with these single bounds?"

Thanks all. I may never match Moises Alou in terms of streak longevity (and how did he manage to hit in 30 games in a row considering he was never healthy enough to play for two straight weeks?), but I'm honored that the BoC shoulder patch has been ironed onto my posts for a second straight month. I owe it all to Bob Klapisch (who, in turn, owes it all to Mariano Rivera), though I must credit Edgy for setting the winning entry up with his new, hit catchphrase, "Show me the math there, Klap." Give that man the Assist of Cool.
