Cars in 2010

The Prius As recently maybe as six months ago, the hybrid image of this car was so satisfying to the consumer that Toyota and other automakers were designing even non-hybrid car bodies to look like the it. Now it's looking like the lemoniest lemon in decades, and Ford, of all manufacturers, is looking like the way-shower for the industry. Such surprising turnabouts. Maybe it's fate is somehow linked to Obama's.

Hybrid cars are a sham anyway. I read somewhere the most environmentally friendly thing you can do with regard to a car purchase is to buy a used vehicle and save on the energy it takes to keep on building these things.

Sham? Sure, and I think that's why I made the crack about the president's marketplace fate sufffering from a related image/substance defecit. Hard times. Though I guess the most envioronmentally friendly thing you can do is buy a used bike and emulate No-Impact Man.

I guess the Prius was looking good only a few weeks ago.....I laugh when I see the big Chevy Tahoe's with the "Hybrid" badge on them, I guess they might be great and all but I doubt.

I'm down with the JCL recycling method. A bumper car feels safer than a Prius. The motor pool has me down for a Taurus and nothing else.

I saw a Smart Car on the road today. It looked like it should have a Little Tykes logo on it...

Re: Cars in 2010

I brought my 2007 CRV into Honda Monday evening and left with a 2010 in a matter of hours. They paid off my remaining bank car loan, gave me a Honda car loan with a lower interest rate and monthly payment with no out of pocket expense. Got better warranty coverage and if the car is totaled in a legal accident (no dwi's, etc.) I have loan forgiveness coverage to boot. The used car market is so sizzling they're happy to take my 65,000 mile car and give me one with 2 miles on it (and get a new sale of course) so they can flip it is basically what the salesdude boiled it down to.

Oh, and I forgot ... they're installing a $600 roof rack tomorrow for free ... I know it's not worth $600 but I like to hold out until I can something out of the bastids for nothing.

I saw a smart car at the supermarket last night. I was wondering where the lawn mower blade was.

Yeah, apparently Honda and Hyundai are rising while Toyota is totally imploding - not to mention Ford's steady success.

Listen to you bullies beat up on the SmartCar. Cars don't really say anything about your penises, guys.
