I like to make Valentine's day special for my wife, since it was on Valentine's Day in 1979 that I first asked her out by sending a dozen yellow roses and a card to her dorm room. We have been together ever since. I took the day off from work so we could spend the entire day together. I took her to get a new Blackberry Curve phone that she has been wanting for a while now. Then we headed to Raleigh so she could do some shopping for clothes and whatever else she desired. Finally, we enjoyed a wonderful, liesurely dinner at a Brazilian "Rodizio style" Steakhouse before driving home in a lightly falling snow. Tomorrow evening I plan on taking her to a movie followed by dessert and coffee. Then we'll head home for a relaxing soak in the jacuzzi with a bottle of wine. I believe I may have to start taking more long weekends.

My parents met on a blind date, Valentine's Day 1968. Still married, 41 years come August.
