ST Luncheroo [Lazy Split from Two Boots]

Kong76
Feb 19 2010 02:54 PM

Lunchgrabber mentioned perhaps a Spring Training lunch again some
time in March in the Two Boots thread.

I said I was down so long as not ESPNZone, Edge said if he'll be up for
Tues then Sun (3/21) would be best for him, themetfairy will be in the
city that day for a lonnnggg stroll, I said that day was probably good,
SJR asked about McFaddens on 42 and 2nd, I said whatever.
And here we are. Let's discuss ...

More than a stroll. The New York City Half Marathon. It'll be my first race as a part of Team McGraw. I'll definitely be hungry - hopefully you guys won't mind that I'll also be pretty sweaty....

I looked up McFadden's menu. Sweet potato fries - I'm there!

I'll also have an entourage. D-Dad, of course. And the friend I'll be staying over with the previous night (Kase - you met her at Virgil's when we celebrated Samantha's birthday in 2008).

Re: ST Luncheroo [Lazy Split from Two Boots]

I just rolled with no quick nays and figured why not that place.
I've been there before, it alright enough. ESPNZ and Virgil's are more
touristy and we've done those. If anyone has ideas for a central
meeting place we have plenty of time for discussion. It seems the
date is good for enough people though so that should remain I think.

Re: ST Luncheroo [Lazy Split from Two Boots]

I understand an aversion to "touristy" things but let's face it: this is exactly the sort of thing they're good for. Lots of room for a big group; no need to make a reservation for a firm number of people; no rush to vacate the table; unlikely to be in a cramped space; plenty of menu options so everyone would be able to eat something; convenient location for mass transit.

I am pretty sure I will be able to make it as well.

Quickest group ever thrown together in forum history and
the weekday shift hasn't even chimed in yet. Thanks to JCL
and Jeets for getting things rolling.

Hey, if McFadden's is a new Mets business partner and we show
up with 20 fans (one of whom just ran a half marathon for Tugger)
we should weasel some press coverage or something.

The Tug McGraw Foundation intern who is coordinating Team McGraw for the NYC Half Marathon is possibly going to be joining us. It's probable that she's a Phillies fan, but she's a very sweet person and I'm sure that you guys will also find her gorgeous (I'm straight and even I think she's hot ).

My entourage might be sizable when all is said and done.

Re: ST Luncheroo [Lazy Split from Two Boots]

boo.

minimm had a rare bad night last night. not so much with crying but with not sleeping. he seems to have gotten himself a lot of congestion, and therefore trouble breathing, so he was constantly waking. needless to say, this led to us not sleeping either. at 4 or so, i was able to pass out, but when we woke up to the alarm at 6, we decided it would be best to can our day. personally, i just woke up about a half hour ago. mrsmm hasn't really slept. as a result, i don't think we'll be driving into the city today.

boo, again.

the kid, of course, is oblivious to it all, and is his usual, happy little self, congestion not withstanding. we'll be slathering him up in vick's baby vapor rub tonight like we should have done last night.

have fun without us!

Re: ST Luncheroo [Lazy Split from Two Boots]

Good news: LWYP travels pretty damn well at this point in her existence. (Due in no small part to her secure, aesthetically-pleasing green-and-brown Zurich Graco Snugride 32.)

Bad news: As such, she's booked and bound for LWKnowitallNurturer (LWFS' Moms) in ten minutes. Jersey beckons, and, as such, beckons us away from McFadden's.

Have several on us, please.

Those were several of the nicest minutes of my day.

Sorry to have nodded and run late this morning. Came down with a cold Friday and expended my energy on being part of The Met Fairy's half-marathon welcoming committee. Thought I could hold out for the rest of the afternoon, but no, not really. Now home and medicated, better for it medically if not socially.

Nice to see those I saw for as briefly as I saw them. Props to Chad for wearing the finest t-shirt known to fan.

Next year in Jerusalem -- or this season in Flushing.
