Likely to be the most watched hockey game in the history of televised hockey. USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!

Turnover. Goal. Frick. Shit play behind your own net, 'Murricans.

Re: IGT 02/28, USA vs CAN for all gold marbles

Play definitely swinging the Poutine-Swillers' way in the latter half of the first, with a power play and numerous pressures on Miller. Nice chance at period's end by the Real Heroes, as Ryan Callahan shoots a knuckler that Moose Fucker goalie Luongo has trouble squeezing, and a scrum ensues in front of the net. No dice, though.

I can't offer any real hockeyesque commentary, but this is pretty freakin' exciting. I'd feel better with a quick tie at the start of the second.

Hockey is immeasurably better in HD, and with no TV timeouts.

The color guy called it though, Luongo all day instead of catching very catchable pucks would bat them away...got caught out that time.

This is fun!! Suicide rates are going to go up north of the border if they don't pull this one out. This game was always going to be a bigger loss for Canada than a win for US (if that's the way it turns out) even if it didn't involve blowing a late lead.

Jeremy Roenick's voice cracking as he describes the action... as if he's been yelling all period. Kind of adorable.

The other thing I was just about to say pre-goal is that Crosby's be surprisingly invisible (of the games that I've seen anyway).

btw, if it seems like Crosby's been around for a while already ... he's still half a year from turning [u:1hlb89ay]23[/u:1hlb89ay]. That #87 he wears is because he was born on 8/7/87

Re: IGT 02/28, USA vs CAN for all gold marbles

"Do you realize what this game has done for hockey?" "This is just what hockey needed" " A great advertisement for the NHL" I've heard all of these and more since the game yesterday, Ed Olczyk was beside himself with excitement about this one game and I guess how it will do wonders for the NHL. Except I don't think the NHL will learn any lessons from the Olympics. Tune in to Versus tonight if you have it for the Red Wings at the Avalanche and you'll see a good game but not the same game we saw yesterday. I didn't realize this but it makes sense thinking back but the game yesterday had only 4 penalty minutes and of course it didn't have a TV ad break every stoppage of play. It didn't have goons whose only purpose is to fight or to stop the skill players from playing. None of that will change because of the Gold medal game . I would like if it did but I can't see it. The NHL doesn't get a dime from NBC for it's TV rights but they share the ad money...so the more ads during a game the more money. I watch a fair bit of hockey and the regular season for the most part I find unwatchable , the playoffs though feature a better game without the constant penalties and there is lots of brilliant hockey played. In the playoffs no one wants to give away needless penalties and the refs let the play flow too . Not saying I have answers here but it would be nice to see the NHL try and improve the regular season .

This is one thing I dislike about the NHL Matt Cooke takes Marc Savard to the cleaners with a cheap-shot.Cooke is what's known a a pest in the game, great at winding up the other team. Canada had no use for him at Vancouver. http://nhl.fanhouse.com/2010/03/07/marc ... d=fanhouse
