What's with all the DHing in Port St. Lucie? Is this something new this year? Seeing Lackey and Cameron in the Sox starting lineup reminded me of this thread.

the DH infuriates me a bit. It's probably because they have a bunch of extra guys they want to try out, like Jacobs/Murphy/Davis at first and such. But they've been raelly pushing the defense drills with the Pitchers, so why not offense as well? It's such an overlooked area by so many teams, but just a little bit of focus on hitting with pitchers can often go a long way even if it's just to teach pitchers how to look for and swing at what is usually the "throw it down the middle" approach to pitching to pitchers. Remember last year when Jerry claimed he wasn't going to use the DH at all (and then proceded to use the DH in non-televised games?)

The Red Sox are my early pick to win the AL. Their lineup looks fierce even at half strength. Do you know how good you have to be to have 2 catchers?!?

Can David Ortiz get up from a crouching position on his own?

[quote="Benjamin Grimm":1r09nrek]For those of you not in New York and who have access to a TV this afternoon, today's game is going to be on MLB Network at 1 p.m.[/quote:1r09nrek] MLB network is simply piggy-backing on whatever games happen to be televised by local stations back to their home markets meaning that, since those teams which happen to own/co-own a network are doing most of the televising, the nation as a whole has been treated to a steady diet of NYM, MFY, and BoSox games (and then Chicago games from Arz in the later time slot) during ST's first week-plus of action. As if the rest of the country isn't already resentful enough about the attention NYC/Boston gets. Sox really loading their lineup for this one - 'specially for a long road trip.

Yes, it's the SNY telecast that they show. On Tuesday, though, they showed a different game in the 1 p.m. slot. (I think it was the Nationals, but I'm not sure.) The Mets game was shown later, at 11 p.m.

Yeah, whenever I check MLB Network, it's usually the Nationals or Orioles. The other day was Washington vs. Detroit.

David Lennon says it's starting to drizzle and there are menacing clouds overhead. John Lennon says he can show you that when it starts to rain, everything's the same.

Mets already down 2-0 with two out in the top of the first. Pelfrey's given up three hits.

Inning ends with an out at third after the third run scores on another hit.

Mets retired quietly in the first. Pelfrey returns to the mound with a strong 1-2-3 inning and two strikeouts.

Spring is like this and pitchers are just getting their work in and blah-blah-blah, but none of their four established starters has logged a strong appearance yet, I think.

Tobi Stoner just sent down J.D. Drew. That's nice.

Mets down 8-2. The runs have come on solo shots by Jacobs and Pridie.
