End of Days 2010

First Haiti, then intervening quakes, then Japan yesterday, now this. A massive magnitude 8.8 earthquake rocked Chile early Saturday, killing at least 122 people and triggering tsunami warnings for the entire Pacific basin. I can't imagine how the death toll doesn't rise exponentially.

Santiago's leaps-and-bounds more prepared/less vulnerable for this sort of thing than Port-au-Prince, obviously-- it's up there with SF in terms of "quakeproof" engineering and architecture. But still...
