This American Life

I just found this recently , actually I happened upon this weekly hour long radio program out of Chicago Public Radio hosted by Ira Glass by chance and it happened to be the 400th episode. It's a radio show about everyday life as it happens and it's enthralling Usually each episode has a central theme that it follows , sometimes loosely , like this weeks episode dealt with how the American Psychiatric Association decided in 1973 that homosexuality was no longer a mental illness.Last weeks show was titled "Parent Trap" and as it implies it was a series of stories about how parents trap their kids to get them to do certain things. Then the central story was about a chimp that was raised by a couple, doesn't sound like much but a rather amazing story unfolded. I'me sure a lot of you here know this show already . http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Default.aspx It just came out with a brilliant app in iTunes for $2:99 that gives you access to all 400+ shows and much more. http://www.prx.org/this-american-life-iphone-app Great radio.

Couldn't agree more. I have iTunes set to automatically download three podcasts every week (This American Life, Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me and Car Talk) and I listen in the car to help the commute go by quickly. Irish, if you have Netflix you should check out their TV show as well.

The app has the TV series too, I'm just starting into those.

I kinda wish Ira Glass were a real-life friend, instead of a pretend one.

While in Guatemala, one of the people staying at the hotel I was staying at (link in the Vacations thread) wrote for This American Life. Nice guy.
