Two Boots 2010

FAFIF and MBTN join forces again to present Amazin' Tuesdays at the Two Boots Tavern on the Lower East Side. Our first evening of Mets reading and venting is March 23, 7 PM (cleverly, it is a Tuesday). Specials guests of JCL and myself include Frank Messina, the Mets poet (who totally kicks ass), and an Edgy fellow you all know and tolerate -- he will be up from DC to share his work on Ed Charles, Donn Clendenon and any other observations he might be packing.

Also, I plan to offer copies of the new paperback edition of "Faith and Fear in Flushing," replete with Citi Field epilogue, for 10 bucks: all proceeds from that night going to TMF's marathon fundraising efforts on behalf of the Tug McGraw Foundation and their fight against brain cancer.

Writeup here. Come on out and support a great cause, support a fine moderator and have some Mets fun.

And, oh yeah, bring a Mets baseball card, get a free beer.

Will have to pass, again.

(Shakes fist in sleeping daughter's direction.)

(Notices fart-caused smiley-face, and quits it with the fist.)

Re: Two Boots 2010

I enjoyed the reading Edgy.

Also, many thanks to G-Fafif for donating the proceeds from last night's book sales to my Team McGraw fundraising efforts. I am now at 90% of my goal!

It was a great evening, and it was a lot of fun hanging out with so many friends (Crane Poolers and others).

Lovely evening. Thanks one and all for coming and contributing. Ed Charles' childhood never sounded so compelling.

Nice job by everyone. Apologies for ducking out early and not getting to say hello to everyone -- work schedule required an early morning today.

Aw, you read the Glider chapter. I like the Glider chapter.

Re: Two Boots 2010

Next Amazin' Tuesday is May 18, 7 PM @ Two Boots Grand Central. The one on the LES, sadly, has closed, but we're keeping it alive in a new and likely more convenient location. MBTN and FAFIF welcome Taryn "Coop" Cooper of My Summer Family and Josh Wilker of Cardboard Gods to the stage. Hope y'all can make it.

Full details here.

Re: Two Boots 2010

Is Two Boots in GCT downstairs in one of the corners? That
is amazingly more convenient for me, don't even have to go
outside lol.

Re: Two Boots 2010

Just saw some nice pictures on facebook, looks like fun. Two Boot
GCT is much brighter and colorful than it looks from outside. Seems
all dark and scary from the entrance lol.

Very chaotic at the start but I think it turned out OK. We really, really need a mic.

I think he said it will go into the West Village location.

Re: Two Boots 2010

Sorry I couldn't be there-- especially since it was right on my 6 line-- but I had to dash home for LWYP maintenance.

Was the place roomy enough? I've only been to the GC Two Boots once, but in my mind's eye, it's a lot more awkward a space for larger meet-ups than the East Village one.

"So, Charlie, I hear you like the Mets. Why don't you tell me about it while I drink some water?"

Appreciate TMF's cramped-space photography, even as I cringe at my impoliteness of having my back to a portion of the audience. Also reminds me of a billboard a radio station in Tampa had on I-275 for a disc jockey who returned to their airwaves:

LANDERS IN THE MORNING'S BACK!

Great event, wonderful speakers (besides me and JCL), excellent crowd, but the logistics were not kind. The committee to rectify things that keep things from being perfect will no doubt convene in the coming weeks to resolve amplification and seating issues at future Amazin' [Insert Night]s.

Details here but I've just told you pretty much what you need to know.

Bumping this as my way of asking what is going on with this as there wasn't anything after All Star Monday.

Any plans for 2011?

any interest in doing something simliar in the northernish Jersey area?

I think it depends where you draw the line between north and middle.

There's a supposedly (I haven't been there yet) a nice pub called the Copper Mine on 21 somewhere.

I don't know 21. I'm more familiar with Route 1.
