Now, that's a banner:

Totally ready for this stupid new season to start.

That is awesome. I love the globe. My aunt took me to the World's Fair and I still remember it like yesterday.

Wow! That's even more impressive than this:

Actually, it's not even close, is it?

Re: Banner Day

Love the banner and the new look , is that Mets Annual that you contributed to out yet? , and if so where?

Re: Banner Day

The unisphere design and concept is the work of Superba Graphics ( [url]http://superbagraphics.com/ ), I added the 80s style racing stripes for horizontal oomph.

Had to re-do the site because the newest version of Drupal didn't support the old theme anymore. As a bonus we finally got the rosters to align numerically (it used to do that irritating 1, 11, 12 counting. Drove me nuts.) The archives are much better than they used to be (most of them anyway, still needs some work). Added bios of most of the 2009 Mets.

Yes, the annual has been out for a few weeks at least. Look for it in places you find magazines, I saw it in a Stop & Shop.

Superba is awesome-- they designed the logos for Uniwatch, too, right?

OE: Yes, they did. Along with this, for a Brooklyn Assembly campaign:

Or, failing that, Captain Marvel.

His name is Bill Batson, and he didn't use Captain Marvel in any way in his campaign? You gotta be kidding.

Re: Banner Day

There are two reasons not to use Captain Marvel in the campaign: Copyright laws are one, and the other is it would be way too geeky.

Re: Banner Day

Yeah, well if my name were Bill Batson, I would totally get permission to use the lightning bolt as my campaign logo.

Yup - me too. No doubt.

Me too. But then, were I our president, I probably would have campaigned as Barry O, and made my campaign a disco-kitsch thing. So, my judgment's a little suspect, mebbe.

Forgive me if this was mentioned elsewhere and I missed it, but when did Baseball Reference start tracking uni numbers on player pages?

It must have been only in the last few weeks , I was there very recently and that wasn't. I like it.

i wanted to check and make sure they had Jeff McKnight's Mets numbers in order(like they wouldn't right) and there is this great quote from Kiner about McKnight.

From the lips of the immortal Ralph Kiner: sponsor(s) this page.

"Jeff McKnight was so excited about playing in the big leagues that he showed up at the ballpark and came in his pants."

Looking at MBTN I htink baseball reference has the sequence mixed up....they have 17 before 7 while MBTN has 7 then 17

Re: Banner Day

They haven't updated for 2010 yet, but here is a sample using Henry Blanco. On the site, if you hover over the number, it gives the team and years the uni number was used. Nice feature.

Re: Banner Day

AWESOME!!!!

I love the Unisphere, and I was kind of hoping the ballpark would have faced the other way to it could be seen from the seats beyond the fence.

Ever since the fucking Yankees and Red Sox wrote "By The Numbers" books and stole Lunchbucket's fuckin' idea, man. "Ooh, uniform number tracking! What a groundbreaking idea!" Eff that, man. That's JCL's gig.
