One of my big time-sucks is quizzes on Sporcle.

Nymr83 Mar 31 2010 07:20 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
I got all the Shakespeare plays, I'm resigning as sporcle champion.
|
DocTee Mar 31 2010 07:48 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
Can't believe some of the names in this one!:

I'd forgotten about the existence of this time suck. 24. Missed the Twins, Astros, Mariners, Rox, Angels, and Red Sox.

John Cougar Lunchbucket Mar 31 2010 08:23 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
I destroyed that AAA kwiz only I couldn't spell albuqueque correctly.

Valadius Apr 25 2010 06:11 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
Can you name the last 5 managers for each MLB franchise?
|
Edgy DC Apr 25 2010 06:20 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
NO!

Valadius Sep 19 2010 01:45 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
Here's one that made it to the front page the other day:
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Dec 13 2010 11:46 AM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
Courtesy of AA, the deceptively-trying 2010 roster quiz.
|
Ceetar Dec 13 2010 12:57 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
|
I got 41 on that one. (only missed one player on the team all season, Opening Day 2Bman actually) I'd fail the other ones hard probably. AAA cities? hah.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Dec 13 2010 01:04 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
I did OK with 42. Somehow I forgot Nieve was a Met despite his 200 appearances in April alone. And I kept guessing Manny Aybar when I mean Manny Whathisname.
|
seawolf17 Dec 13 2010 01:11 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |

No, Manny Ramirez wasn't a Met this year.

Damn you Frank Catalanatto and your brief, forgettable tenure.
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Dec 13 2010 01:28 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |

He's one I missed who also cost me time, because I tried at least 7-8 different spellings. I also missed Bay.
|
attgig Dec 13 2010 01:41 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
i sucked on that AAA quiz. I just started listing out mid-size cities that have teams in other sports but not in baseball. that helped a lot..but still missed a bunch.
|
TheOldMole Dec 15 2010 01:22 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
16 AAAs - not so great, but I did get Reno, which only 21% guessed right.
|
Valadius Dec 19 2010 09:22 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
I highly recommend this one.
|
Frayed Knot Dec 20 2010 06:51 AM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
I knew all the AAA cities but didn't get full credit because I couldn't figure out how to spell Albuquerque (I swear I did it right at least once but it didn't accept it).
|
Edgy DC Dec 20 2010 07:03 AM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
I knew the 11-letter answer, but it took me so many spellings to get it right that I couldn't even take a crack at some others.

Yup.
|
HahnSolo Dec 20 2010 07:32 AM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
I got the 9-letter one, missed the 10 and 11.
|
Fman99 Dec 23 2010 07:45 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
Another good one, how many of the 100 instances of 200 hit seasons between 1989 and 2010 can you name? I got 78.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Dec 23 2010 11:03 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
ugh, 59!
|
Frayed Knot Dec 24 2010 06:52 AM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
Double ugh 53 !!
|
Edgy DC Dec 24 2010 07:44 AM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
With a clock ticking down and the pressure on, too many guys outside of my division become "you know, that white outfield guy on the Angels." I'm sure fantasists do better on such quizzes than I do.

Steroids, mostly.
|
HahnSolo Dec 24 2010 11:32 AM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
80 for me. Spent too much time on the 91 Rangers (3 guys with 200 hits!). I only got the one with the most recent Met connection.

Nine.

Yeah, I only got 8 of the MLB Wins leaders, 19 of the HoF pct, but I aced the east-to-west quiz by just sneaking in under the wire.

TheOldMole Dec 24 2010 01:31 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
16 HOFers, but I might have gotten more, except that people started leaving and saying goodbye when I was in the middle of it.
|
Chad Ochoseis Dec 24 2010 01:41 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
|
17 HOFers. Completely spaced on #2, was surprised that #13 got as many votes as he did, and am glad that I didn't bother trying to type #15.
Eleven, though a couple were cheap. One I got because I was thinking of a more recent pitcher with the same last name. For another, I just started typing in common names that begin with that letter, and somehow guessed correctly. Never actually heard of the guy.
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Dec 24 2010 03:01 PM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |

76. 9 on wins leaders, which is just a ridiculous thing. 22 for 30 on the East to West, which feels like a failure. 18 on the HOF votes, which leaves me with no particular sensation.

15 of 24 in the nineties. I'm beginning to feel like a borderline D-/D student.

Try this one on for size - name the active players that have hit home runs against all 30 teams.

I'd rather not say how poorly I did in this one.

If you cheat and do it multiple times it starts to fit together by the 2nd try. (Without looking at the answers in between, obviously.)
|

Got 11 of 13.

35. I bet I know which wrong answers you and I had in common. Very good quiz. Got 13 of 15 on the Bingo Quiz, missing one really obvious one. Only 56 of the managers/coaches.
|
batmagadanleadoff Jan 26 2011 07:53 AM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
This Sporcle Mets quiz was a lot tougher than I thought it would be.
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jan 26 2011 11:23 AM Re: Baseball on Sporcle |
Barely topped 60 on that.
